Hi everyone! Im new to the board and would like to get some opinions from people who have experienced this problem before. Has anyone had one or more ultra sounds and were told you were having a girl (or boy) but it turned out to be the opposite of what the tech said?

I had two ultra sounds and still feel as though there was no progress in either one. The first ultra sound the tech could not tell what I was having because the baby had its legs crossed and lying in a position which made it very hard to see the genital area. The tech said "well I can only see the baby's buttocks region and there are no obvious boy parts sticking out from there. So we can assume it's a girl and just check again next time."

the second ultra sound the same tech tell me the exact same thing except this time the baby's legs are not crossed and she's 80% sure it's a girl this time. However when I asked could she show me the baby's private area she showed me what was supposed to be between the baby's legs but looked nothing like the private area of a girl. With my first child a different tech showed me what was an obvious girl genital area. I could see the split and everything. Should I go and get a third opinion at a different clinic or should I believe the shakey 80% and not worry about it?

I would just be so mad if its a boy and I told everyone its a girl and they go out and buy all this girl stuff for my shower. I even feel very confident this is a boy. What should I do?

Hopelessly hanging on

My husband and I just went for our second ultrasound and the tech showed us a very obvious penis, therefore we believe we are having a little boy. The tech also made it very clear that we should definately not get our heart set on it as it is possible to be wrong. Unfortunately they cannot give you a 100% guarantee it is going to be a certain sex, they can only have a guess and like our tech said, sometimes they can be wrong. I have been sewing heaps of boys clothes the last 2 weeks, so I guess if it turns out to be a girl, she has a lot of pants to wear. Laughing

The techs were right with my sister's boy and my step moms triplets (2 boys and a girl) but they can be wrong. I hate the fact that it's not 100% because I would be buying all kinds of sex oriented clothes.

Well, I feel that if the tech could have shown me the baby's privates then I would feel more secure about telling people its a girl. She said herself both times that she couldn't see directly between the baby's legs. However she did get a very good picture of the baby's face. I can see the baby has very wide nostrils. Thanks for the help but has anyone went through any similar experience?
