Object Left In the Body Post-surgery Posted: 08-28-06 15:16pm


I recently went to the dentist for a checkup. I have been having problems with my jaw for many years so she decided to do a panoramic x-ray of my teeth and jaw. Upon looking at the x-rays, she noticed several little pieces of foreign matter scattered underneath my jaw line. 10 months ago I had surgery to have my submandibular salivary gland removed in that same area. She presumes that these foreign objects were left inside my neck during the surgery. They look like small staples or tiny tube-like structures.......I counted 22. I have no discomfort or pain in that area so i'm not worried about it affecting my health.....But I am curious to know just what these 'objects' are and will they affect my health at a later date? Any suggestions? :?:
