Hello everyone it's me again :) I didn't
know this particular part of the forums
wasn't so active.
Anyways, I have another question for all
of you.
I have a daughter with two first names
clarissa and faith. Both names were
chosen by the father and I never really
liked clarissa at first so we just call
her faith, even as she started
kindergarten everyone knew her as faith,
and she's mastered writing that name
only...I've even filled out her school
application with just faith, then her
m-name, then surname..To avoid being
called clarissa. I've just always
excluded clarissa. But lately it's been
kind of growing on me, and I came to a
realization that it's really technically
her first name so she should be known as
clarissa. I still prefer faith. But i'm
considering of finally including clarissa
and maybe gradually introduce it to
everyone we know. I'm still not sure what
to do though...She might get confused. I
want to decide on what to do by next week
before she enters 1st grade and meets her
new classmates. I don't know what to do,
she is used to being called faith...And to
everyone she is faith.
Can anyone offer me some advice on what I
should do? Thanks a bunch! :)

As a suggestion, you might start getting
her use to her real first name being used
so that she gets use to it. I had a
similar problem myself!! My middle
daughters name is haley. When she was
born her father and I use to always call
her bug or haley bug (her nickname)
anyways, as she grew up she was so use to
being called "bug" that when we called her
haley, she would cry and say, "that's not
my name! My name is bug!!" it was
really cute, but we had to explain to her
that her real name was haley and bug was
just a nickname! Anyhow, she did get use
to it..Now everyone calls her haley except
for her dad and I who still refer to her
as "bug". She gets mad if anyone else
uses her nickname though..Hehehe good
luck!

Hey jeanine, yea ur absolutely right. It
is part of her real name and she should
get used to it. The only differnce with
yout situation and mine is my child's real
name is faith, it wasn't a nick name like
bug- which is by the way a very cute nick
name! I used to call faith, toots all the
time but that didn't stick for long lol
thank goodness. She has two first name,
m-name, then surname so her entire name
looks like this; clarissa faith johanna
m****. The school she's gong to right now
allowed us to take clarissa out of her
name because the child is used to faith.
I only had second thoughts lately about
getting her used to clarissa because this
name grew on me recently. I'm still
wondering if it's too late though. I'm
going to take your advice into
consideration but for the time being I
think we might stick to faith.
I guess part of the question I was asking
before but wasn't clear about was what do
you think of the names clarissa and faith,
and out which one do you prefer? :) (the
father chose both names for her, I picked
out johanna...I let him have his way
because at the time I was just happy to
finally be out of labor)

Actually, I quite like the name faith!
(its my cousins name as well) to be
honest, I have never really been fond of
the name clarissa, though. (sorry, hope
that doesnt offend you!!!!!) all you can
really do is try to continue to call her
by her given first name. She will come
around eventually! She is 3, right?!

You must do what you feel is the right
thing to do, you can always say that her
name is .Clarsisa .Faith but she goes by
.Faith as she has two 1st names just my
opinion but you always want to keep the
peace and she may like .Clarissa better
later if you start using it now, who
knows, all you can do is try.
All the best!

Hey sandy :) thank you for that advice. I
agree with everything you said. I should
have said that clarissa was her name but
she just goes by faith as she has two
first names. I guess i'm just lazy and
just had to avoid having to explain.
Yeah, that occured to me before...What if
she grows up and ends up liking clarissa,
then she might get upset with me. Argh.
I asked her yesterday to practice writing
her other first name clarissa, and she
wrote it beautifully lol then I asked her
if she remembered how to write it by
herself and she spelled it ciarra. Lol
probably because she had a friend in
k-grade with that name. It was cute
though! :) not many people are fond of
that name clarissa, including myself....I
wonder why...I can't even describe why I
don't like it, I just simply don't. It
all depends on preference I guess.
Hello again jeannine! Thank you! I love
that name, faith too :) well , not at
first..First time my hubby suggested it,
faith hill came to mind, and i'm not a big
fan of hers. You can say whatever you
like about any names..I won't take
offense! I used to dislike clarissa
myself, now I don't have a problem with
it, but I still don't like it much :( I
was pretty reluctant to gave her those two
names. But my hubby never suggested any
names or even put his two cents in on any
of my name suggestions , not *until* I
gave birth to my daughter. Ugh. And he
chose that day to argue with me about
names. Darn him :( my chosen first name
for her was gonna be johanna and her
middle name was going to be my mom's name.
Ugh again. Can't believe I let him won.
Anyway, my daughter is not 3..She is
actually twice that age lol...She is 6,
and will be entering 1st grade next week.
I wish she was only 3, I miss those
days...But she is still cute as can be.
And she has the biggest heart, everyone
notices as well, most grown-ups say she is
quite different from other kids once they
get to know her. Some of the kids from
her kindergarten class took advantage of
her kindness though, and she always came
home with a brokenheart. I thought that
all kids were angels, till I met those
little devils! How old are your little
ones? I know your middle child's name is
haley, but i'd love to hear the other
ones' names too! :)
