Xanax Vs Valium
Posted: 08-31-06 01:02am

I have a terrible fear of flying...Just terrible. Few years back my doctor gave me xanax (12 of them) to take prior to a flight. I took my last one earlier this summer.

I now have a flight coming up next week and only 1 day off left before heading out (sunday) which means I can't get to the doctor. Reason i've procrastinated is I was thinking of taking one of my husband's valium (prescribed to him last spring for spasms).

Now comes the plane crash this past sunday. It happened less than 10 miles from our home. I knew some of the people on the flight. Probably I should say I know of them, plus one couple was heading to the same destination I am. In fact, that would have been the same flight I would have taken for my connection in atlanta. It's a popular early morning flight from this airport.

Anyway, I haven't slept very well since the tragedy. Once asleep, I wake up in about 2 hrs or so, past 2 nights from nightmares and have trouble going back to sleep. I'm a walking zombie. Being in lex, the media has been non-stop.

So my question: seeing I was stupid enough not to get to my primary care earlier, would it be ok if I took one of hubby's valium, 5mg? Is there much difference between that and the xanax?

I am otherwise a healthy person. Only other meds I take is fosamax 35mg.

Does anybody have an opinion?

Anybody have any experience with both?

Clock is ticking...
