Pregnancy After Miscarriage Posted: 09-01-06 04:36am
Hi, I miscarried in march, I was 4 months
preg. As you can imagine, it was the
worse time of my life. I have just found
out that I am 5 weeks pregnant now. But I
am terrified. If I feel any movement in
my knickers (discharge), I run to the
toilet thinking its blood. When I was
pregnant last time, I was 10 weeks when I
found out. So this could have been partly
why I miscarried. I dont know. I just
want to know what should I do to keep this
baby healthy. Can I still exercise? Walk
and swim? Can I still work as normal? I
work in food retail as mgmt full time.
Some days I start at 5.30am, some days I
finish at 11pm. 10 hours a day. I want
to do everything right this time. I cant
tell anyone how terrified I am.

I understand how terified you are. I have
been through it. Unless a doctor tells
you any different it is normaly okay to
continue all of your prior activities.
Now the doctor might limit some or
restrict some, but it is all up to
him/her. Have you seen your doctor yet?
You need to discuss all of these concerns
with him/her to mput your mind at ease
some.. Good luck and welcome to your 1st
trimester.

sorry about the loss. Let me just say
that unfortunately miscarriages are not
something you've done wrong. They are
unpreventable and unstopable. A very high
percentage of them are due to chromosone
abnormalities which hinder the fetus from
growing properly. You can exercise
lightly , eat properly , take vitamins
which is good for you and the baby but im
gonna be real blunt if it does happen
again* hope not* there really isnt much
anyone can do to stop it. But think happy
thoughts because your % has dropped to
miscarry again . Good luck!

Thankyou girls for your replies. I have
seen a doctor but i'm just waiting to see
a specialist. Is it true that my chances
of miscarriage now are less than my first
pregnancy??? I've never heard that
before. That makes me feel a bit
better!
Last night I had some blood when wiping.
It was a small amount, it was watery and
pinkish. My period should have been due
24th aug. Maybe its that? Any ache or
pain in my body I dread the worse. I'm a
nervous wreck!!
Also, i've been feeling light headed alot
lately. Some times so bad that I do black
out for a couple of seconds. Whats
this??? Any ideas??
Thanks for your time xx

I wouldn't worry about the pink
spotting--i've had the same my last two
pregnancies and now this current one as
well. (but not with my son...Hmmm, makes
me suspicious that this one is a girl like
my last two)
it could just be your body thinking it's
time for a period, or sometimes this early
in the game it's just the fetus and
accompanying tissue burrowing in a little
deeper, displacing a tiny bit of blood.
I know with my second pregnancy, when I
first had spotting like that, it freaked
me all out and I got my midwife to
schedule me an ultrasound, but all was
fine. When it happened last pregnancy, I
didn't worry about it as much, and that
baby was fine too. Now i'm barely
thinking about it.
If you'll check some baby books, I think
you'll find that the lightheadedness is a
normal pregnancy symptom. You should
talk to your doctor about it though
because actually blacking out is a
concern. You could be low in something,
like iron.

Hey, thankyou for making me feel at ease
now. I did have the pink blood in my last
pregnancy also around the time my period
was due. But this time its a little
redder than before. I'm just worried
about seeng blood because of what happened
last time!!! Its stopped now, thankfully
but i'll still ask my doctor about that
and the light headed. I think I probably
am lacking something but I dont know how
to stop it as i'm now eating properly
whereas before I was dieting.
I have one more question! Is sex safe
now? I'm worried about him going to deep,
will it do any damage to the uterus, or
baby sack etc?? I'm off sex at the moment
because i'm worried!!! And feeling sick
all day everyday doesnt help!!!
