Hiv + But Worried
Posted: 09-02-06 11:56am

I have been hiv + for 5 years now all the times my cd count has been great I am not on any medication but there is my question want to have a baby is it a good idea number 2 is I used to have like a tiny pimple when I am due for my periods and will disappear after but now it grows bigger and becomes more painful and last for dy but goes away on its own what could it be does it mean my immune system is getting run down or what
what are the chances of passing that to the baby . I know there is less chances of passing it onto the baby but each day I hope one day there is going to be a cure
my thank goes to all out there who are making living with hiv better u deserve a thank you keep up the good work

I just did some quick/brief research. One web site I found said that you can pass hiv to the baby through pregnancy, birth and breast feeding. If not on meds breastfeed babies have a 20-45% chance of being infected. If taking meds, this can help alittle. Another site said if hiv + you have a 25-30% chance of this this to the baby.

I understand that you want to have a baby, but think of the possible complications if you do! There is a good chance you will pass this on to your child. Do you want that? Think of the "possible" complications the child could have. This should take some serious thought before you proceed. Good luck to you!

I do wish you could have a baby without passing on the infection. However, there are risk factors much higher than the happiness. So, please consider to think carefully before taking a decision. Becoming a mother is a gift of god, and it's a unique blessing and one that god has provided. I hold any mother with a great respect cause she has experience what no one has, something beyond this world

however also consider the aspects of a child suffering due to the mother. You could also think of other oppertunities like adopting a child for yourself and showing the care and affection to the child.
