Relax, go with the flow, allow your body
to adjust & maybe to let ou know what
it wants(with my daughter all I wanted was
to chew ice 24/7) & with my son, no
real food needs. I was 2 weeks off 32
when I had her after losing 2 & 5
months off 40 when I had him after losing
3 including his twin.
Do not listen when people say oh, this is
what will happen &/or how you'll
know........., it just isn't so, babies do
not read child birth or pregnancy books so
they just go along & do it their way,
regardless of the books & the
busybodies (including dad's).
The dr thought i'd end up with broken ribs
because my 8lb 4 oz daughter kicked so
hard constantly & since i'm only 5ft
he also thought i'd have to have a ceasar
- he should have asked the baby!! My
waters 4.15am, 4.20am, 4.25am. 4.30am,
checked with mum, after all I was due the
previous day (although the dr had said
then that her head wasn't in position
& it would be at least another week or
more!! So much for drs)mum said not to
worry the baby must just be pressing &
making me go - well 4.35am & I get my
husband up, go set the tv torecord the
show I fully expected to miss that night
on tv (with a toilet stop at 4.40) then
rang the hospital & said we were
coming in, they said it wasn't necessary
as my waters hadn't broken & my
contractions hadn't started) by then
toilet stops at 4.45 & 4.50 got my
bags toilet at 4.55 into shower 5am then
at 5.03 ouch contractions 3 minutes apart
- my waters had been breaking time with my
contractions, now there was pain as well.
We got to the hospital at 6.45 & my
daughter was born naturally(!) &
without any "transition" stages at
8.15am.
Now my 9lb 1oz son to an older (oh by the
way I was never the fittest person & I
never did the exercises like my healthy
younger cousin who had 16 & 22 hour
labours)more worn out me, was also a
natural birth, he however didn't spend 9
months kicking me, my waters didn't break
but I was fully dilated when we went to
the hospital - after much carrying on they
agree to examine me because in their view
I wasn't in labour - but my son was just
lazy, he oozzzeedd his way out to the edge
then waited for the dr to cut the skin
preventing my waters from breaking (which
was a waste as they didn't break until
after he was born since they couldn't get
past him. He meanwhile just laid back
& let me scream & yell & push
him out in 21 minutes of utter agony.
After my daughter's birth I could have
faced another birth that day but after my
son I couldn't stop shaking for 2 hours
& I had a total hysterectomy (my
choice) 3 years later!!
I worked until the day before my daughter
was born, had 4 months off f/t then worked
p/t for 16 months. My son had me home for
6 months mainly because I had surgery on
both wrists when he was 3 months old then
I wemt back p/t till I was given medicl
retirement a couple of years later.
My point is that just as we are all
different so are our pregnancies & our
babies. Then we have them & they
change every few weeks & they will
insist on growing. Pm me if you're
really uptight about anything.

Wow you have been threw it too!!
I have heard mostly by freinds about the
problems of being over 35 and pregnant!!
It's interesting to hear from women who
have been there.

Pregnant Over 35 Posted: 01-22-04 18:44pm
I had three children at ages 36, 39 and
41. I'm 44 now. The only "age-related"
pregnancy problem that I can think of
would be an increased risk of downs
syndrome. If they've ruled that out,
then I would'nt give another thought to
your age.
My pregnancies went well, I occasionally
had tests that were wildly inaccurate, and
my three different doctors weren't the
least bit concerned about my age. (i am
well educated and upscale -- doctors would
have likely discussed concerns with me if
they'd had any.)
i skipped amnio because they all agreed
that if I didn't plan to abort any
"problems", there wasn't any need for the
amniocentesis.
The babies were completely healthy. It
certainly helped that I was conpletely
healthy and not overweight/underweight.
Every question I ever had was found in the
book what to expect when you're expecting.
I don't believe in worrying -- it's an
unproductive neurotic behavior. (no
offense.) good luck!

Over 35 Posted: 02-03-04 18:45pm
I am 37 and just found out that I am 13
weeks preg. I feel terrible most of the
time. I didn't with my other two 14 and
11.
My husband and I are looking forward to
having another little one running around.
The doctor says everything will be just
fine not to worry. As I don't have any
health problems at all.
I think being older and preg is a little
harder on you than when you are younger
but I only have 27 more weeks left and
than a new little one.
So good luck to anyone over 35 it will be
well worth it..
Very excited

37 And Preg With Twins!!! Posted: 02-09-04 01:35am
My mother in law is 37 and pregnant with
twins. The only difficulties she is
experiencing is edema and swelling which
she didn't have with her other children
whatsoever. She said this pregnancy
just is a little rougher on her body, but
not much. She just has to go to more ob
visits, since over 30 is considered high
risk and so is twins. But the more
frequent visits put her mind at ease also.
She is due in april and is very excited
since she is having a boy and a girl.
In the past she had a son that died at 1
month from a liver deficency and a
daughter that was born at 26 wks and died.
So she is estatic and loving it!
