HIDA scan results...should I be worried? Posted: 09-02-06 19:11pm
I recently had a HIDA scan. The ejection
fraction on my gall bladder was 19. They
also could not get the tracer to show up
in my small intestine. I feel bloated and
I am always tired. I am having lower back
pain. I have scheduled an appointment with
a surgeon next week. Should I be worried
since my family has a long history of
cancer in the colon, bile duct and
liver???
According to your symptoms (feeling
bloated, tiredness, lower back pain), it
is difficult to diagnose the problem with
your health. You will need additional
investigations to identify the diagnosis
(blood/urine analyses, test for occult
bleeding in the feces, ultrasound,
gastroscopy and colonoscopy). Your HIDA
scan is not OK and you might consider
gallbladder removal but you'll have to
consult a surgeon first. Unfortunately,
you need to also direct medical attention
to your long family history of cancers.
