Diagnose: Post Menigitis Headache Posted: 09-03-06 19:52pm
Hello and thank you for reading this post.
I am a 39 year old woman from norway that
is starting to get rather desperate to
help my son out of his pain.
My son is born october 1992.
June 2003 my son was bitten by a tick.
January 2004 he developed bacterial
menigitis.
The doctors believe this was caused by the
tick bite, but has not been able to get it
confirmed.
Today september 2006, he is still
suffering from tremendous headaches that
is worst in the mornings and in the late
evenings.
He has more sick-days from school than he
is on school.
He cannot concentrate for very long before
the headache bothers him to the point
where he has to lay down.
The pain is always located in his forehead
and tins (side of head) (not sure of the
english word for this, sorry).
No painkillers has ever taken his pain
away, and the only thing we havent tried
yet is morfine.
Noise and too much light makes the
headache worse.
After 1 year or so he was diagnosed post
menigitis headache, but they were not 100%
sure. This was as I understood it due to
lack of other plausible diagnoses.
I have asked several if there is anything
we can do to ease his pain or to get rid
of the headaches, but none has been able
to help us.
I have also asked when he will be healthy
again, to where none can answere either.
The only thing they have told me is that
it will go away, but none can give me a
time.
During the summer holidays he has grown
several centimetres and gained over 1
kilo, and his headache has slowly but
surely gone away.
Then school started again aug 16th and it
took him 2 weeks before he couldnt go to
school anymore due to too much headaches.
He really enjoys school and loves spending
time with his friends, so he is getting
very frustrated when he cant go to school
or spend time with his friends.
This is ofcourse taking its toll on me as
well and I am trying my very best to stay
positive and strong for his sake.
My questions are:
*are there others out there who can help
us in any way ?
*what helps on this diagnosis ?
*what can I do to help him get rid of this
pain, if anything at all, and when can
we expect it to go away ?
*what can I do to ease his sufferings and
to greatly improve the quality of his
every day life ?
Any help or advice is muchly appreciated.
* from a desperate mother, lilly *

Get rid of Meningitis or reduce symptoms Posted: 06-22-08 06:56am
Hello,
My thoughts go out to you son and
yourself.
Many viruses dont like high temperatures
that are found in saunas.
Headaches I have experienced can be
reduced in the hot environment.
Perhaps you could try this with your son.
Seek medical advice before doing trying,
about 2 to 3 times per week.
Try for between 30mins to 1 hour each time
to raise the body core temperature.
Also take in a sprayer with you with 10%
DD eucalytis and 90% water to spray onto
the hot rocks, and breathe in the vapour.
Keep the boy warm and put him into a warm
bed for 2 -3 hours until his body core
temperature is normal.
