Hormone Replacement Theraphy

I have been taking estertest tablet for several years. I am 58 years old and had a hysterectomy at the age of 31. I have been taking this pill and in the past year have had some bleeding vaginally. The doctor said I had thin lining nad this is why I am having the bleeding. It seems lately I am having more and more bleeding after sex. I don't think this is normal. Do you have any suggestions?

Bleeding After Sex

Estratest doesn't have very much estrogen in it, and what it has tends to be rather weak. It's possible that you aren't getting enough estrogen to your vaginal tissues and are developing vaginal atrophy. When this happens, the tissues there lose elasticity and lubrication, and it's easy to abrade or tear them during intercourse...Which could lead to bleeding.

If you think this might be the case in your situation, asking your doctor specifically whether you are experiencing this condition and what you may use to treat it (typically, a vaginal estrogen preparation in addition to your systemic hrt) would be a good way to follow through.

If your doctor doesn't have an answer for your bleeding and is not interested in developing a plan for treating it, perhaps finding another doctor who is more willing to be active in dealing with this would be inorder.

Vaginal atrophy, if that is what you have going on, is very common n menopausal women and is considered easily treatable. I have had a hyst and vaginal estrogen is a regular part of my hrt.
