Finally Feeling Positive!
Posted: 09-06-06 14:37pm

Well havent wrote any posts in the last couple of weeks been sooo busy!
Last post I wrote about was how I was getting stomach cramps, sore boobs and feeling really tired, I was really confused because I have pcos and havent had an af since feb and all the hpts were coming bck negative............ Well it turns out I am not pregnant but I did finally get an af on the 25th august!!!! Whoo hoo!!

Also I had my long awaited appointment with the gynae on monday, I have to do some blood tests, one tomorrow and other on the 21st day of my cycle, not sure whats thats for! Then I have to go back in 7 weeks 23rd oct and if I am still not pregnant then I am being prescribed clomid. Oh and my poor man has got to do a sperm sample too just to make sure his little swimmers are all ok! Lol

i just wanted to let you know what was going on with me anybody else had any news?? I am trying to work out when I should be ovulating next, I know because of the pcos theres a big chance I wont but I have had alot of cm today so fingers crossed.......:)

Glad to see you back jolie. It seems like things are finally moving in the right direction for you. I'm glad to hear it.

I was just diagnosed with pcos. I have a follow-up next week and will probably start metformin.

Thanks hun! Yeah things are looking up for me! I am getting excited about ttc again which I havent felt in a long time.

Sorry to hear about pcos, but its good to hear we are both getting some answers! So how does metformin work? Is it the same sort of thing as clomid? What are the differences between the two?

Well it certainly sounds like we are in the same boat at the moment, so to speak! What part of your cycle are you at? The pcos mucks it up soo much for me but I really think I am ovulating again, I am getting the same sort of things going on as I did last month. Which I am feeling really hopeful about.

Good luck at the follow up appointment please let me know how you get on, I should be about a little more now that the summer hols are over and aydans back to school.

Metformin helps to regulate your hormones I guess. It doesn't make you ovulate it just helps get your body back to where it should be so your cycles get back to normal and you should start to ovulate on your own.

I'm glad to hear that you are excited about ttc again. Hopefully things will work out for both of us. I am on day 2 of taking progesterone to bring on a "period." I should hopefully be starting met on thursday. I'll let you know how it works.

Hi ladies,

mind if I join u ladies in ur chat here..... I too have pcos... And am back to try ttc again.

I was diagnosed with pcos last year november and have been taking metformin with clomid but didn't suceed. Then this year in may, I got my husband to do a sperm test....... Guess what, he has low sperm count..... So even with me ovulating at 100mg of clomid and 1000mg of metformin, it was hopeless........ So the gynae asked my husband to take some pills, though it does little help, it ok to try..... Tomm, he is going for another sperm test to check if the sperm count is high (then good for me, I can try ttc with my medication) but if it is low, then the recommendation for me is to have iui or ivf treatment........

I have been ttc for 2 1/2years after my miscarriage, and now then I know the whole story....

Sometimes, the doctor wastes time by talking to much like "wait n see", "u r still young", "maybe loose weight", "try for one more year naturally"........ I heard enough n am seeing a lady specialist this month to help me conceive.......... After a long break I am back with some hope for ttc...

My new gynae wants to rule out all options and narrow things so that she can offer me the fastest solution to conceive...

So I have actually done a:
1) transvaginal ultrascan
2) rubella blood test
3) hormonal blood test
4) pap smear test
5) hsg x-ray (which I am going this friday 15/09/2006) to check if my falloppian tube is blocked
5) sperm analysis test for my husband.

So there it goes, I am hoping after all this tests n trying naturally this month, when I see my gynae on 30/09/2006, she will have some solutions for me or I will have good news to tell her that I am pregnant...

I am presently on day 7 of my cycle........ I am charting temps....

So good luck!

Well sounds like an exciting time for all of us! Loveable u certainly have alot going on! Chris was meant to do his sperm sample today but he's got thrush (a long story lol) and he says its too painful to do it at the moment!

Well I brought a basal body thermometer today and I going to try track my ovulation, I am hopefiully going to start on the 23rd september as thats roughly when my period is due, providing it shows this month!!

Abbysmom- hows it all going? Is the progesterone working?

Loveable- how long were you on clomid/met for? I spoke to someone who told me clomid made them feel really sick, did this happen to you? Want to let myself know what I am in for!!

I started metformin three weeks ago so now I just have to wait to see if it does any good.

When are you starting the clomid?

Well I have an appt on the 23rd october so I should get the prescription for it then.
I am not sure how you take it tho, do you have to start taking it at a specific time of your cycle? If so I am not sure when I can actually start taking it because my cycles are screwed up again!!
How about the metformin? Are there any side affects to it?

Yes, you have to take it at a certain point. I think it is cd 5-9 but it has been a while. My doctor gave me progesterone to bring on af and them I took the clomid on the right days.

Metformin has some side effects in the beginning and as you increase the dosage. I was lucky. I only got sick to my stomach and only threw up once. Some people get really bad diarrhea.
