Do Some Diagnosed, Ever Make It Without Relapses? Posted: 09-08-06 03:03am
Ive been researching a bit... And its a
bit depressing seeing how many people that
have relapses, especially when they dont
take there medication..
I was diagnosed with schizophrenia two
years ago. And have been taking
medication ... Most of the time, ever
since.
Ive only had 1 minor relapse.
I hate the medication I take, because it
has caused me to gain weight... Sleep
longer, and even when I wake up after
sleep I always feel tired and it takes
time to fully awaken. I also like to
drink sometimes and drinking combined with
the medication makes me tired very quickly
and I seem more prone to hangovers.
There has to be some percentage of a
chance that the phsychotic episodes will
ceise right?
I always tell myself I can control my
thoughts, I have lost control twice and I
am more adept now at seeing the warning
sides... But thinking this could just be
ignorant...
I also for some reason feel the medication
might hinder my intelligence.
Anyways, I havent experienced anything I
would consider psychotic for at least a
year and a half. I have read alot about
people diagnosed have troubles dealing
with getting a job, and going to school
and generally functioning....
Right now im living with just a roommate
(my brother) working as a server in a
restaurant on the weekends, and going to
school on the week days. My grades have
been really high and it seems as if im
able to deal with the stress.
Is it possible I could go through the rest
of my life and not have a psychotic
episode?
Hi im new on this but I can understand u I
think I also have your ilnness and I take
quetiapine to control it I have gained
lots of weight too and have sleep problems
I tend to stay awake all night and sleep
during the day but the thing is with me I
still have sychosis and I take my
medication I dont really know why I just
feel kinda spaced out like ive been
smoking pot although I have not touced any
drugs its kinda wierd
