Q: D&c Question

I had a d&c a few yrs ago and have been trying to get pregnant lately and cannot. I was told that having that procedure can damage your reproductive organs making u infertile. Does anyone know if there is any possible way now that I could get pregnant? Or did I ruin everything

No you did not ruin anything. From my experince and knowledge, d&c do not take away your chances. I have had 3 from when I was younger, and I am now 10 weeks preg. I spoke with my doctor because that was one of my main concerns, and he basically said that if there were complications with the d&c, like infections, then there is no cause for worry. If you have been trying for awhile, maybe try talking to a doctor that specializes in that, or maybe have your sig other checked. He could have a low sperm count! That was the issue with my fiance!! So keep trying, think positive, and good luck!!

d stands for dilitation (dialation of cervix) and c is for curterage *sp (suctioning of fetal tissues, etc)

I had two d & c's done last year as well. One was done when I lost my baby at 8 weeks and the other was a twin I had lost at 11 weeks. My doc did tell me that it deals with the scraping of the uterus to make sure that all of the fetal tissue is gone thus not causing any infection, and somtimes it can weaken the walls of the uterus, but I don't think that that wud stop you from getting pregnant.
I am now 9 weeks pregnant and having not one of the best pregnancies {terrible morning sickness} but I ain't complaining, in a way I welcome it becuz I know that my baby is ok. Just talk to your ob/gyn, ask a quetion and hear what he says.
I know a friend of mine who had one done and it took her about a year and now she has beautiful twin boys.
