Need Answer About Starting Depo Provera Please Posted: 09-08-06 15:27pm
Alright. To start off I just recieved my
first dope shot yesterday 9/7/06. I did
get it on my period. I usually have my
period for three days. I got the shot on
my second day. I asked the nurse how long
I should wait until the shot became
effective, and she hesitated to respond
and told me to wait a few weeks. I have
read on multiple sites, including the site
in which I got my shot from that it is
immediately effective if you get it on
your period (24 hours). Now, yes I did
get the shot to get rid of the condoms,
but I also got it to protect myself from
getting prego and to stop the bleeding and
cramps. I was wondering how long I should
wait to have intercourse with my
boyfriend? I am getting two different
answers and I would like a real answer.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

When you get the shot on your period it is
effective immediately, I work at planned
parenthood and an aboriton clinic, and
this is what our ladies do.
Many docs to tell women to wait weeks
though.. Although is not necessary in
your situation.
