Back Pain And Abdominal Pain Posted: 09-09-06 05:33am
Hello,
let me first say thanks for reading this
and trying to help. I have a question and
hopefully someone can guide me in the
right direction. I do not have insurance
unfortunately (i'm a poor graduate student
who works for 2 private families so I
can't afford insurance and the insurance
they offer thru school is a joke) so I
really need to know if this is something
worth going to the doctor over. I've had
back pain for over the last week in a half
that has progressively gotten worse and
moved into my left side which is now
swollen. I have a temp of 100.8-100.8
w/out advil which brings it down to 99.1.
I am unable to lay on my stomach b/c the
pain is a 12/10 on the pain scale and even
laying on my back it's a solid 8-9/10.
When I walk I look like an old lady
meaning that I walk stiff w/ back arched,
my butt out, and I walk slowly. The pain
gets worse throughout the day. I have no
problem peeing, nor do I have a higher
frequency in the amount I pee, and I don't
have diaherra. The pain on my side is
horrible. I feel like there is a rubber
band going from my obliques to my spinal
cord and the rubber band is too short. My
stomach feels like it's just full of air
and needs to be popped like a balloon. I
have had ovarian cyst before by since
being on the pill now for over a year i've
had no problems with them, and the doctors
at one time thought I had endometriosis
but i'm only a 24 year old female who
doesn't want to have a child anytime soon
so I said no thanks to having surgery for
it since it'll only come back and surgery
can be thought about once i'm ready to
have children. But back to the problem at
hand when I poop the act of getting the
poop out (i.E. When pushing) it hurts and
feels like pieces of my intestines is
being pulled out. I have no constipation
and I don't see any blood in my urine.
I've had uti's and it's nothing like it at
all. With constant use of pain meds,
taking a hot bath and than applying a ice
cold towel on my back it's tolerable. I
am just worried this is something major
and i'm doing my self more harm by not
going to the doctor now but I don't want
to have a huge bill to pay off for the
rest of my life for the doctor to say he
can't find a cause or it's just a pulled
muscle. Any ideas? Sorry about the
detailed long post but i'm hoping the more
precise I am the more help it is to
diagnosing the problem. Thanks again. :)
