I am 32 weeks pregnant with my second (it is a boy) and since 22 weeks, this baby does not rest. I am not exaggerating. At first I could count maybe 4-5 minutes at most of no activity. But now, not more than a few seconds. He even wakes me up in the middle of the night. I honestly do not know how he is surviving- don't babies need sleep? I have expressed my concern to the doctor and at 23 weeks, saw a perinatologist who said everything looked good. I have since gone for weekly non-stress tests and 2 biophysical profiles- all of which are normal.

This seems not only abnormal, but almost impossible. I am don't think I can survive this. No research I have found indicated this as a problem except one posting somewhere online in which an older women who had constant 24/7 movement found out the baby had downs syndrome. I had the triple screen test and it was 1 in 900 and although they did not do the blood test, they measured the nuchal chord, which was also normal.

Has anyone ever heard anything like this, and was the baby normal? Any help would be great. I am ready to commit myself.

Hi! The only thing I have heard is that excessive movement from the baby could suggest s/he is tangled in the umbilical cord. However, since you have had numerous tests done, that doesn't sound like it's the case with your little boy. Also, if a baby is tangled then the movement is usually excessive and then suddenly stops.

I'm sorry I can't be of much help. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will come along who can help you.

It sounds like you are getting good care for your baby though so hopefully all will be well.

Best of luck x

Me too
I am a 24 yr. old woman, pregnant with my third child. I too am experiencing, constant, strong, movement from the baby. In the beginning of the pregnancy I thought it was the caffine until I depleted it from my diet. When I was tested for down syndrome my test was slightly positive, so I went for a level II ultrasound. The ultrasound did not reveal characteristics of a baby with down's. I did not want to risk the aminostatis(forgive my spelling)procedure, but it's the only one sure fire way to find out. And it will also ease my mind. Please help me.

Worried mother
