I've been monitoring my blood pressure
over the past few days or so, using an
automatic blood pressure monitor that I
bought from the chemist.
Over the last year maybe, but more so in
the last six months, i've been
experiencing random tired spells. The
sensation is not like a normal tiredness,
it feels much deeper, and I was wondering
whether it may be related to my blood
pressure at all? When it happens, it can
sometimes only last for a short while, and
other times, it can wipe me out for a good
period of hours. I also become conscious
of my heart beat as well, it seems to
become heavier. Can anybody explain
this?
I measured my blood pressure just before
when I felt a slight tiredness coming on
(it only lasted a few minutes), and it was
at 143(s)/68(d) with a 74 pulse. I read
that a normal blood pressure is around
120/80. Why would my systolic raise, and
my diastolic drop like this? Besides the
tired spells, does this kind of blood
pressure activity sound normal?
Now that the initial tiredness has passed,
I have re-measured my blood pressure, at
it is now at around 135(s)/70(d) with an
81 pulse. It seems odd that my pulse has
now increased, but maybe it's just me
worrying about things too much?
When I feel fine and relaxed, my pulse
usually averages somewhere between the 60
and 70 mark.
Any knowledge, views and opinions that you
can share is very much appreciated!
Thank you for your time.

I'm not sure that your tiredness points to
blood pressure problems. It would be best
to consult your doctor about this issue.

monkeygirl22,
There are so many things in your daily
life that play a role in your bood
pressure. Now if I had a blood pressure
like the first one you stated, I would be
in all my glory. I am hypertensive. Also
realize that alot depends on your age.
Blood pressure changes both with lifesyle
and age. But, as we said, mention it to
your doc. If not only to ease your mind.
Since you have a cuff. I would suggest
what you do is take your blood pressure
three ways. Lying, sitting and standing.
Make sure you don't waste to much time in
between the sitting and standing reading.
Keep the cuff on and then stand up. See if
there is any big changes. If there is a
change, let doc know about it.
