Late period: Pregnancy, Ovarian Cyst, or what? Posted: 09-10-06 18:24pm
Hi, I'm confused...
We have been trying to conceive and now
I'm 3 days late. On Aug 27 I felt a
strange sensation 1/2 hr after sex and
from then on for 2 weeks I was nauseated
for a short time each day which has pretty
much passed. I was expecting my period on
Sept 8 and have had cramps from 5th
onward. On the 7/8 they definitely felt
like menstral cramps, but no period has
arrived. I feel kind of wet (sometimes
drippy) inside but do not see any colored
discharge. I took a hpt 2 days before my
period was to show and one day after but
but both were negative. Could I still be
pregnant? Or could something be wrong
with me? I'm 41 and have only ever missed
1 period when I was 13!
Thanks for your help!
According to your negative home pregnancy
tests results it don’t seem likely that
you are pregnant. If you don’t get your
period in a week, you can do another
pregnancy test. If the test is still
negative then you might be experiencing a
follicular ovarian cyst that is hormonally
active and can cause delay of the period.
Such ovarian cysts usually disappear
spontaneously and then the period comes.
If your period is late for more than 2
weeks with a negative pregnancy test, you
should go to your gynecologist.
