Q: Are Symptoms related to pregnancy? ovulation? coming off the
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 11th, 2006
I have had quite a few symptons after going off of the pill and we have been trying to get pregnant. I am not sure if these symptons are normal for going off of the pill or if they were signs of ovulating or if I may be pregnant. The symptons are: sore nipples for a week or so, constant urination in the middle of the night(always had this problem but seemed to increase a little), very tired in the last 2 weeks, especiall this last week, and constantly bloated. I am not sure if I am looking too much in to this or not. Please help me out.

According to the symptoms you mention (sore nipples, bloating, fatigue, constant urination in the middle of the night, tiredness…) it is impossible to say if you are pregnant or not. All the symptoms you mention can be present in many other conditions, including pregnancy. Lack of menstruation is the first sign of a possible early pregnancy. When a woman lacks her menstruation, the first thing what she should think about is pregnancy. Lack of menstruation is an unreliable sign of early pregnancy (it can also indicate a hormonally active follicular ovarian cyst), so any assumption regarding pregnancy should be verified with a home prgenancy test. A positive pregancy test can then be confirmed with an ultrasound confirmation of the fetus.
Most women do not feel ovulation (although it is possible). After ovulation, the body temperature rises slightly and that’s how it can be detected. Another method for detecting ovulation is using ovulation tests.
You can take a home pregnancy test now to confirm or exclude pregnancy.
