I had one. I was having intense contractions when I got mine, which made holding still while he worked .D.A.M.N.E.D hard. The numbing medicine felt more like a sting than anything, and I just felt pressure from the actual epidural needle. It felt weiiird going in though. He told me to expect a sharp pain briefly in my pelvis (holy jesus, that half second was worse than the contractions!), and then to expect an electric jolt down one or both of my legs (ended up accidently kicking my husband from my reflex), and then... Blessed relief! That man quickly became my hero.

Once the epi took hold, my legs felt fuzzy... Almost like they were vibrating a little bit. The epi killed the pain, but I didn't feel like I was dead below the waist or anything. And I was able to walk to the bathroom a few hours later without help. The hardest part of getting the epi was being hunched over holding perfectly still while he was poking that needle in my back when my entire body felt like it was splitting open. Since you're going in for a scheduled c-section, you probably won't have to deal with contractions while you're getting yours, so it'll be cake.

I didn't think the epi was too bad. Like .Aya said....It's hard to sit still while going through a contraction. They had me hunch over and hug a pillow..That helped to squeeze that during a contraction, but again like .Aya said, you most likely won't have to deal with the contractions for a planned c-section. But it was a nice relief!

I had one after the baby was born. I didn't feel anything except for the three little picks when they numbed the area. I guess after just having a baby all natural I couldn't feel any more pain

I was in labour for about 6 hours so it wasn't as long as others. I was able to take it I think because I wasn't in pain for that long and I didn't get worn out and tired, although I did push for about 2 1/2 hours.

If u are strong willed u can do it. With labour pains needles feel like nothing!

My epi was awesome..I wanted it sooo bad..The pain I was having was 10 times worse than the epi..And I ended up having to have two..They did the first and it only worked on half my body and then they did a spinal and it actually worked...I was the same as you..Freaking out and dreading it...But once I was hurting so bad ..I was screaming for it..And it actually didnt hurt at all..But I just didnt look at it..And tried to think of something else while the guy was sticking it in..

Don't worry about the epi..They really aren't that bad. It hurts just a little for a minute, but I actually like the way it felt when they put the medicine in because it made my back feel kind of cold. I'm sure everything will be fine.

After laboring for 21 hours, I finally got the stingy pinch in my back! I was dying for it, like a crack head does for a hit.

I had a scheduled c-section with .Jordan, so I was as desperate lol but it had to be done.

Hey sandra, I am really glad to hear that everything is going well.

As you know I had to have a c-section because of my prevous section. However I did go into labor the monday before the date of my sceduled c-section. Getting the epi was such a wonderful thing. I really don't remember much about it because I was in so much pain from the contractions. It took him a while to do it because I was shaking and the contractions were 1 min apart and lasting about 1 min each. I was shaking really badly and I couldn't stay hunched over. Finally they did get it in and I felt the prick of it going in and then I felt the fluid going in. But once that happened I was fine. It was great. I then felt really cold the whole surgery.

I couldn't complain but then once it was wearing off I was itching like crazy. That was the worst part of it. I was itching all over....I couldn't sleep the first night. They would give me this stuff that was to make the itching not so bad but it didn't help.

Sandra, you will be fine.

I was induced over a two day period. The first day wasn't bad at all, and the contractions were only unbearable for a few hours on the second. If I had waited another half hour before finally asking for my epi, it would have been too late to get one.
