Three Months After Chalazion Removal, Can't Wear Contacts! Posted: 09-14-06 18:54pm
Hi,
anyone have a chalazion removed? How long
before you could go back to wearing
contact lenses? My doc says it's usually
1-2 weeks, but 3 months later, my lid is
still slighly inflamed and tender, and I
can't wear contacts beyond several hours.
My optometrist (who didn't do the surgery)
says my eyes were slightly dry before the
chalazion removal, and most likely the
surgeon cut out some oil glands, worsening
the dryness. He inserted orange dye and
flipped my lids, then said the underside
of my lids (both eyes) is rough. This is
really upsetting me--i had zero problems
tolerating lenses before the chalazion was
removed.
My doc said that in a tiny minority of
cases, it can take many, many months to
heal. Or the patient never heals and can
never again wear contacts. Frankly, i'm
devastated.

Thanks so much!!
