Forgive me for being naive but I was wondering, what happens during pregnancy after the first visit from the midwife at 6 weeks? Do I just wait until the 12 week scan and then they will tell me what to do next? Or do I need to book a visit to see the doctor or the midwife in the mean time? The midwife didn't explain things too good! Thanks

I personally didn't see the midwife again until I was about 12 weeks. I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks because of a suspected ectopic but then I had my next at 15 weeks and another at 20 weeks, when I was told the sex. Usually the first u/s is done around 12 weeks though.

I didn't really see much of my midwife (i think it was 4 weekly) until I got to around 26 weeks when it became fortnightly. When I reached 36 weeks it became weekly.

You can, of course, request to see your midwife or doctor at any time you want to.
