Aly does that all the time. What .I've
learned to do with her is to not move her
until .I'm positive she's in a deep
coma-like sleep. And even then, she
sometimes wakes up soon after, and man is
she pissed off! She haaates being alone.

it mostly durin the day.Use to be the nite
but now I think he has his nites and days
organized so now its during the day which
is better than the nite when I got
absolutly no sleep. But by the time hes ina
deep sleep and I put him down its
practiccally time to feed him again:s

Try putting them on their belly's to
sleep. I know it's not advised too. But
in the hospital they lay them on their
belly's for digestive reasons and it helps
control the baby's feeling of falling when
they're on their backs.
Oni has slept on her belly since she was
in the hospital. The nurse said it was no
problem .O.N.L.Y if there was no loose
bedding around.
All I can do is suggest trying it during
one of their naps and see how long they
sleep on their belly.

babies also feel more secure on their
bellies as well. Also babies that are
light sleepers normally do best on their
tummies. My daughter will not sleep on
her back, when she was a few weeks old we
had her on her tummy for tummy time, and
she fell asleep...She took a very long
nap, so from then on we put her on her
stomach to sleep, and it was also since
then that she slept through the
night....In a 12 hour stretch.

Amen....I'm sooo glad people aren't trying
to ream me for saying that. It's true
though. In the book "the happiest baby on
the block" he suggests laying them on
their bellies. If you don't like the
outcome of the amount they sleep, then try
something else. But I bet they sleep
forever!!
Oni has been sleeping through the night
since 5 weeks. I'm talking from 10pm to
8am. Hoolllaaaa...And she's sooo content
when she wakes up from a nap or sleep!

Babies often find 'white noise' soothing
because it reminds them of the womb. I
used to get my hi-fi and tune it in so it
was between radio channels and all you
could hear was the 'shhhhhhhhhhh' noise.
Only the 'shhhh' ind, none of that awful
squealing you can get sometimes when not
tuned in properly! I would then leave
that playing (not too loud obviously) and
my son would sleep for ages! It's a
weird one but it absolutely worked for me.
I could leave the room and if he started
to wake, it was like the 'shhhh' soothed
him back to sleep.

yes! Same with .Adriana. She almost
never cries when she gets up. She always
lays in there and talks and scream
(excited scream) and laughs. She's hard
to keep up past 8pm....And she sleeps
until 8am regardless. Sometimes if we do
get her to stay up a bit later, she'll
sleep later....Sometimes not, and on
occassion she'll sleep until 9 or 9:30.

You can try the cradle wrap as well. Take
a receiving blanket and wrap the baby
tight in it so that he feels secure. Some
people call it the swaddle. I know that
is the only way my daugther would sleep.

I asked my pediatrician about letting .Aly
sleep on her stomach, since she was
sleeping horribly on her back. This is
what she told me:
babies *do* sleep so much better on their
tummies. That's why it increases the risk
of .S.I.D.S - if they stop breathing while
sleeping (called sleep apnea and is
apparently somewhat common in little
babies), they are less likely to wake up.
Tummy sleeping puts them in a deeper
sleep, so they might just stay asleep and
never begin breathing again. Whereas if
they're in a lighter sleep, they're more
likely to wake up and catch their
breath.
She said I could let .Aly sleep on her
tummy if .I'm right there with her, or
better yet to let her fall asleep on her
tummy while she's laying on me. So that's
what we do. We let her fall asleep on us
however she's comfortable, and when she's
completely out we transition her to her
crib and put her on her back. It seems to
work with her (so far).
They say tummy-sleeping is perfectly fine
once the baby is able to roll over on
their own.
Nothing against the mommies that let their
babies do it! (*hugs* .Sarah!) just
letting you guys know what .Aly's pedi
told us. :)

I hear ya girl!! Not a problem!!! All
doctors are different. Oni could lift,
and turn her head from side to side at 1
week old. I flipped out and started
freaking cuz I didn't know babies so
little could do that!!
But I mean whatever works best for you and
.Aly is what you need to do. Like I
said..All I can do is suggest!!
I was scared at first, granted. But I got
over it reaaaaal quick when she started
sleeping through the night and for
literally hours during her nap!!

Amelia was the same way unless she is
wrapped up. She is 9 weeks old and I
still wrap her when it's time for bed and
I cover her with an additional blanket at
night. She likes that. I would sugest
that. Amelia sleeps on her side too. I
have a wedge type thingie and she sleeps
in that.

We have a positioner for .Aly that we use
to help keep her on her back at night.
Here's a pic of it (taken when she was
three days old):
i still put her in it when she's in her
crib, but when I check on her later it's
down around her kneecaps! I think she
might be scooting out of it in her sleep!
She has kicky little legs. :)
