Just An Update
Posted: 09-20-06 23:54pm

I just talked to my brother. He said they ended up giving her a hysterectomy because the bleeding was coming from her uterus and it wouldn't stop. Now they are saying the bleeding has stopped. Her family apologized to my brother and he went in and saw her. He said she is responding to him when he talks to her. He told her to move her thumb and she did. She also started crying when he was talking to her. She seems like she's once again making some progress. I just hope to god nothing else goes wrong.

Hopefully the hysterectomy fixed the problem!

When are you going to the hospital again?

Well, she coded again last night. She had a mucus plug break off from her lung wall and it clogged her ventilator tube. They said they fixed it right away and got her stable again. Poor girl is catching hell up there. She makes some progress and something like this happens. They said she is still doing ok though. I'm sure i'll have more news later.

I am so glad that she is doing better or at least stable and I hope with all of my thoughts and prayers that she remains that way and she continues to get better every moment and I am glad her parents apologyzed to your brother as I am sure she would not have wanted that. I am so glad that your brother got to see her. I am glad that the bleeding has stopped! Hopefully, she will get better now! Hope to hear positive things from you! Please keep us posted.

They put her on dialysis today. Her kidneys are under too much stress from all the medication she's on and they are doing this to prevent them from failing. Overall, she is about the same. She hasn't gotten much better or worse. I can't wait until I can write some good news. I did post some pics of my brother and his baby girl though under a new topic. She is so sweet!

If .I'm not mistaken, dialysis is when they use a machine to filter the toxins out of your blood, if your kidneys are unable to do the job properly.

Dialysis is basically just filtering the kidneys when they can't excrete the amount of fluid or solutes it should. She is somewhat conscious. They are keeping her sedated a bit so she doesn't pull out her tubes. She still tries to pull them out sometimes. My brother said she looks at him when he talks to her and she moves her mouth like she is wanting to say something but she can't with the endo-tracheal tube down her throat. It's like she has her moments but she isn't "all there".

Pretty Good News!
Posted: 09-21-06 22:34pm

My brother just called me from the hospital. He said they are now giving her lasix to get the fluid off her body. (she is pretty swollen from all the fluid shifting going on) the doctor said if they can keep her just like she is for the next 2 days then they will be able to start removing all her tubes. This is great news considering they were just telling us to prepare for her to die. I can't help but get my hopes up!!

Better News!
Posted: 09-22-06 21:33pm

The doctor told us that if they can keep her stable for just a while longer, they think she will live. They are going to start taking out some of the tubes she's hooked up to over the next few days and eventually take her off sedation. She is doing so much better right now. I just hope everything continues to get better because she'll make it if that happens.
