My neice whos about 4 months old, is
non-stop screaming. They don't know what
to do with her. My sister-in-law took
her to the emergency room about three
weeks ago. They did x-rays, blood work
and all that stuff.. They only found
that her stomache was full of gas. My
question is, is there a formula that helps
with that??? She's tried a couple, but
none of them seems to be working. She's
now on this one formula that starts with a
t. What other formula should she try?
Maybe she's allergic to the milk? Any
info is very much appreciated!!!
My son couldnt tolerate milk or soy
formula. He is on neocate which I order
from the pharmacy. He also has acid
reflux and needs medication. Maybe she
has one of these problems?

You might think of getting a second
opinion from another dr or talk to a
pharmacist.
All the best!

Have you tried colic bottles? My son had
alot of colic when he was 2 weeks old and
we changed the avent bottles to tommee
tippee colic bottles and they work wonders
with the gripe water. The down side to
the bottles is the teats as william cant
get much drink out of them and gets tired
after 2 oz so we have to put the avent
teats on them and they leak. Owell, as
long as hes not screaming during the
night. Good luck and try not to worry.
As soon as shes sitting up you wont get
this problem as she will be able to bring
up her own wind x

4 months old is a little too late for the
onset of colic.
If all they found was gas (which is pretty
painfull, and I wouldn't blame the little
one for yelling about it) and this has
just started recently, I would say it's
probably diet related- incompatible
formula- something of that nature.
If the baby has recently started trying
any solid foods- it could also be related
to that- fruit can cause babies to be
gassy because of the natural sugars (can
also have a laxative effect) certain
vegetables can make babies (and everyone
else) gassy too- broccolli, cabbage,
etc.
You could try a formula made for lactose
intollerant babies, or a soy based one
(soy can cause gas though, so be careful)
you could try a regular formula, but
checking the ingredients, find the one
which contains the least amount of
sugar.
You could have the baby allergy tested.
You could try letting her sleep on her
stomach, or try lying her on her stomach
accross your lap when she's fretful- a
warm (not hot) water bottle or heat pack
can help relieve gas pains.
If none of this helps, I would definately
take her to a peadiatrition.
One of my friend had a "screamer" and it
wasn't 'till the poor little guy was about
4 months old that they found out there was
something wrong with his bowel.- it was
easy to fix, but did require surgery, and
he'd been suffering from it since birth.
So tell your firend to trust her instincts
and not to listen to people when they tell
her she's worrying about nothing, if she
really thinks something is going on with
her little girl.
