Yasmin Birth Control Pills Posted: 09-22-06 17:11pm
I have read some of the complaints to
yasmin birth control. And I have a major
complaint. I took yasmin for a month and
a week, and I ended up with a blood clot
in my spleen and a protein deffeciency in
my blood all from yasmin. Now I have to
take coumiden a blood thinner for the rest
of my life. I have to get my blood drawn
once a week, and it has really changed my
life and not for the better. I just
wanted to let people know that their are
some major consiquences to this stuff.

If yasmin caused blood clots, then you
were obviously predisposed to getting them
in the first place.
It is difficult to know exactly who will
have side effects on birth control, so it
is trial and error. There are non
hormonal birth control methods that work
wodnerfully.
Have you considered an iud?

Some of the people that I know or have
talked to have generally once they have
gotten the coumidin under somewhat control
only have to get their blood tested once a
month, hopefully this will be your case in
time.
Their are a lot of meds out their that
have major side effects, look at vioxx and
what happened to some people who took
that. I was told that ibuprofen and
aspirin can thin your blood and can cause
stomach problems and look at some of the
side effects of some of the other meds.
They generally give you handouts when you
get a med or you can ask for one or check
it out on the computer. I take several
meds due to pain and my neuro situation
and I have to be careful on a new med to
make sure that they mix with the other
meds I am taking and I am always leary of
the side effects sometimes even some of
the natural meds.
I am sorry this had to happen to you!

Yes, there are side affects, but I also
feel that women are not duly warned about
the serious side affects and more subtle
negative consequences of hormonal birth
control. Altering your hormones affects
almost every part of your body - sleep,
mood, hard to build muscle and lose
weight, and more serious things as well.
I got off it after 8 years on the pill to
cleanse my system and suffered serious
insomnia for 2 weeks. No doctor ever
warned me that could happen. I think the
drug industry encourages us to be on birth
control and every time I visit a gyno,
they always try to push it on me.
