.In .England it is legal to terminate a
pregnancy after 24 weeks, right up to 40
weeks if necessary, for medical reasons
only. If the mother's life alone was at
risk and the baby was viable then an
emergency c-section would usually be done
to try and deliver a healthy baby. A
baby of even 40 weeks gestation with
severe physical abnormalities can be
aborted. I imagine this is extremely
rare though as scans in the second
trimester would usually show up such
problems.

no, they were saying it was legal to have
a 'social' abortion up until (and during)
the 24th week of pregnancy but yes, the
law clearly states that abortions for
maternal health or foetal abnormality
reasons are allowed up until birth (and
it's not just london, it's all of england
and wales - that's how our laws work).
In reality this doesn't really happen (as
testing is done earlier and for maternal
health reasons in very late pregnancy an
induction is preferential) but yes, that's
the law. I can provide you with the
statute if you wish
