An Old Question With a New Twist......
Posted: 09-25-06 12:40pm

Ok, the age old question with a new twist. How can I skip my period? The twist is that I am not using birth control. My husband has had a vasectomy and I really don't do well on the pill or other chemicals. Is there another way to skip a period safely? We have big plans that will be dampered greatly by having my period when it is supposed to happen.....Please help!! Thanks in advance.

There is actually a way of postponing your period but it requires getting on birth control I beleive you may want to talk to your doctor about it but I beleive that is going to be your only avenue

If I understand vasectamy correctly, you two can't have children, right? Which would mean you don't plan on having children.

If that's the case, I know of an extreme measure you could look at. For a while my mom was looking at endometrial ablation [currently I am too,] which is basically the removal of the uteral lining. It almost always permanently stops your period, but there are some problems.

1] if you decide to go through with it, you won't be able to have children.
2] it's a fairly risky procedure depending on the methodology.
3] there aren't many doctors with a lot of experience in this field.

As I said before, it's a really extreme measure and might not be what you are looking for [especially since I don't know when you and your husband are going to execute these big plans.] however it might interest you to know that later in life it can be an effective alternative to hysterectomy.

wikipedia has some information here, if you're interested.

I know of at least 2-3 women in my tiny choir at church who have had this done... It sounds liek a relatively invasive, uncomfortable procedure, but with good results, most of the time...
