This is getting rediculous..
98% of the time when I try to change
.Jacobs diaper, he throws a temper tantrum
and throws himself around to the point
where all I can do is restrain him until
he calms down by holding his legs to the
bed.. (which sometimes never happens and
I have to get help holding him down or
else he gets poop everywhere..)
its getting really frustrating... Usually
I dont even see a tear.. He even goes
postal when I want to wipe his face or
nose.
Is this normal?

Yeah its beyond frustrating...
Hes going thru this stage where he screams
and throws tantrums every single time I
dont let him get his way... Right now hes
screeching at the top of his lungs because
I wont let him have free reign down the
hallway where he makes his way to the
toilet to play in the water. Hes nuts.

He is just testing you to see how far you
will let him go with this. Keep your cool
and I bet it subsides in a month or so.
He will be tired of doing it and he will
eventually realize that you are the boss
and you are not giving up thus making him
give up.
Good luck till then though!

honestly my nephew is gonna be 3 in
feb...And this summer was the worst...We
would take him to the zoo and he would
throw himself on the ground and pull
screaming fits and tantrums when it was
time to leave...He was unstopable
.....Uncontrollable...He really proved
that terrible 2"s does exist....We dont
spoil him and his older brother never did
those things.....No meant no and the kid
never freaked out...It all depends on
thier characters....Jacob is probably like
my nephew "tough characters" .......Its
not abnormal...In time you'll see he will
start to comply when you say no because
he'll understand that he wont get this toy
or watch his tv program if he
continues...
Now he cries when we wont give him his
older brothers school book to "wead"
(read)lol.......I wunna wead!!!!! But
the tantrums are finally over....I hope...
Be patient with jacob ...Its hard but he
will change ..Hes just testing his
boundries now....

I'm not there yet but i've got a mountain
of nieces and nephews. Based on that
experience I would say it's normal (the
hissy fits with the diaper changes) and
it's totally boy. The girls
never screamed about diaper changes, thank
god! They did however scream about other
stuff... That's what's waiting for you!
*sinister laugh* j/k.

My .Melia has started to kick her legs
while I change her diaper. She finally
stopped crying when I change her but now
she wants to kick and play and squirm
while I try to change her. But it's still
fun. I love changing her and bathing her
and feedign her and everything......I love
being a mother......Hopefully the fits
will not be that bad.

Lmao...Actually the best advice is to
ignore him. Don't let him see you get
frustrated. He's at the point where his
brain is in more control than he is. It's
something that allll toddlers go
through.
Maybe you oculd ask him if *he* wants to
wipe his butt. I'm sure he'll feel more
of the independance he's trying to have.
Ask him to wash his hands after he's wiped
his butt, and so on.
This is actually something that they
cannot help. They're not doing it on
purpose. They feed off of the emotion
that you give him when he reacts in this
manner. Ya know?
If none of this works, just say "fine, i'm
not the one with poopie in my butt" and
walk away. I bet, he'll come to you and
sya poopie as in he want's you to change
it.
I saw this on "surviving motherhood" on
the tlc channel. It worked wonders for
the mother!!
As for the temper tanrtums, you should use
short direct corrections. Like come here
now! Or stop it now! Nothing like "hey,
I don't want you to do that because you'll
break it hunny". They don't respond as
well as we would wish they did.
With the tantrums, let him go. Make sure
he's in no physical harm and let him see
that him doing this, has no effect on you
at all. He'll realise that that doesn't
work anymore. So he'll maybe try to
converse with you instead of spazzing
out!!
I hope this helps a little. All the
little man wants is independence probably.
With the new baby coming, he'll need to
start practicing!!!

Lol, my 1 year old does the exact same
thing. And he has been doing that since
he was 9 months old. I've tried to learn
to laugh about it when he starts up but it
is not easy to do. So latley I have been
trying to keep him occupied while I change
him. Use a toy, sippy cup, blankey or
whatever to keep him busy and see if it
works.
