I cant stand spanking my kids.
Mainly because I had my ass beat so bad
when I was younger.. I was hit with
switches, belts, hands, I had things
thrown at me..
I was even hit with a plastic hanger when
I was 8 and a half months pregnant with
jacob that it left a baseball sized bruise
on my leg. (by my mother.)
when jacob gets out of hand, and does
things like sticks pennies in his mouth,
or grabs say, a lamp cord, he gets his
hand tapped. Not enough to make it red,
but enough to make a point. Rob taps his
diaper butt on occasion, and i've asked
him not to, but he was raised in the
appropriate environment where spanking was
used sporadically and only when necessary.
So I trust him to not hit hard and
ruthlessly. He understands hes only 1. I
think its .Jacob getting his feelings hurt
that hurts more.

yes! My grandmother made us (me and my
older sister) do that.....But it was
necessary because we were playing with
matches.
In response to the question.....I see
nothing wrong with spanking as long as it
doesn't get out of hand, and is not done
in anger. I spank my son when he gets
out of hand, he is not the type that will
do a time out and he is does not still
still long enough to have a conversation
as to why he shouldn't be playing water
fountain in his room (peeing in the air)
or why he shouldn't be climbing to the top
of the bookcase and jumping down. I
however do not spank my son with my hand,
I use his belt to tap him on his bum or
his thigh. I would rather him associate
the belt with his punishment rather than
my hand, so when ever I have talked to him
for the 5th time, I just go inside his
room and get the belt and usually, he will
say "ok ok mommy I will stop" the thing
is, he isn't afraid of the belt and he is
not afraid of me, but he realises when he
sees the belt that he has gone too far.
Oh, he is 3 going on 4 in december and I
started spanking when he was 2, I started
by tapping on the hand....One tap.....Not
hard at all, the action itself used to
upset him because he knew he was being
punished. Now it is on to the tapping on
the bum with the belt, and still it is the
thought of being punished that effects
him.

i'm with you on that one. Lol
sandra I had to pick my own switch a few
times
but my mom used to spank me with the blind
closer and opener. She used to just go
at it and where ever it landed it landed
and i'd have nice little bruses too.
Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!! At this point looking
at my little one I couldn't ever picture
spanking her. Aaawww I don't want to
think about her doing something bad enough
to warrent a spanking. Ok well I am
going to go feed her now and give her a
big hug just for thinking about it.

.Aly. I'm going to buy one of those
kid-sized chairs ahead of time and have a
"naughty chair" ready for her. That seems
to work well on .Nanny 911, but we'll see.

I only agree with spanking as a last
resort. I would try other methods first
such as time out. I don't agree with
parents who spank their kids out of anger.
If you are going to spank your kid, you
need to cool off and explain to them
exactly why they are getting spanked. I
feel like if you spank them when you are
mad it shows them that it's ok for them to
hit people when they're mad. That's just
my 2 cents though...

thinking it was a fun game, I would
definitely put a stop to it! If it takes
spanking to do it, then... Well... Her
daddy would probably have to do it, but it
would definitely end one way or another.

Okay why are people referring to what they
do to their children as "tapping" them?
If you need to sugar coat the words then
there is probably something wrong with
what is going on. If you can say "i hit
my kids" without feeling that something
there is terribly wrong then you are
probably doing a thing that isn't wrong.
But as soon as you have to make it sound
less extreme then I doubt you are
completely guilt free about what you are
doing.
You can't "tap" with a belt. You hit
your kids. Word it properly. I
remember being really angry one time after
getting a spanking and tuning around and
hitting my mother in the face. And then
some how she tried to explain to me why it
was wrong to hit when we're mad. After
just hitting me. It made no sense to
me.
I will never hit my kids. And I will
expect them to never hit another person.
I would go as far as to stip their room of
every single toy and making them stay in
there for a whole day except for meals and
bathroom trips if their behavior was bad
enough, but I would never hit them.

belt.
I would never let my husband or anyone for
that matter touch my child with a belt.
They'd be touched back with it. Across
their face.

you dont "tap" a child with a belt. You
hit them ,and it doing it hurts, I
remember from when I was little, and that
scarred me for life.

your child with anything more than your
hand (once on their tushy) is abusive.
