Nathan is almost 18 months old, and he is
doing terrible at night. He wakes up
screaming about 4 times a night, and it
takes about4 hours from the time we put
him to bed to the time he actually falls
asleep. I am going nuts., I am so
exhausted I could freak right out. He
is teething his molars right now, and I
know that probably has alot to do with it,
but baby tylenol and all that other stuff
don't work for him.
I am about ready to move into a hotel.

Oh man, my friend has that same problem
with her 18 month old. Of course, she
gives in and lets him sleep with them.
But on the nights she doesn't, he refuses
to go back to bed.
Does he nap frequently during the day?

Another one of my friends child had that!!
But, we figured out, that it was because
the mom took the radio out of the baby's
room. Normally, sshe would wake up, hear
the music and soothe herself back to
sleep.

oh my .God, I pray my daughter never has
night terrors. I'm getting teary-eyed
even thinking about it! How horrible for
a child!
I went through this with .Jordan, so I
know what you are going through, except it
had nothing to do with teething. I hope
it gets better hun!

I am so sorry for you hun, I am hoping
that I don't go thru that. I hope that
it's not night terrors. That would be
awful. Don't even want to think about
.Melia going thru that. Aaawww it's too
sad. Maybe it's just his teeth and he
will get thru this in a few days or weeks.
Poor baby.

Night terrors are worse than nightmares.
The child wakes up screaming and, well,
terrified, and sometimes they can't be
comforted. They're usually covered in
sweat and their pupils are big.
They're awful.

My youngest has night terrors, as did my
husband when he was a kid up until he was
12. The worst part is just not being
able to help them, I have to slightly
shake him to wake him up when he's
screaming and shaking, he has a glossy
look in his eyes...Like he's sleep
walking. When I do manage to wake him he
shakes for about 5 minutes then passes
out. Last time I remember asking him to
spell his name out loud to help him think
of something else. In the morning he has
no recollection of any of it. I don't
remember him having them until about age 3
though. I let him sleep with us when he
has one. I feel horrible for the poor
kiddo .

My son, used to have night terrors but he
hasn't had them in a while thank god, it
is the scariest thing a parent can go
through. The first time he had it he was
two months old....He just woke up rigid
and screaming with his eyes wide and
terrified, nothing would comfort him and
nothing was registering, its like he
wasn't seeing or understanding me. I
almost felt like he was trapped somewhere
inbetween sleep and awake. After a
while, I stopped trying to wake him up
because they said that if you try to hold
them too tightly or try to wake them up
then you only make matters worse. So
whenever it happened, I just turned on the
light and removed him from the area and
just walked around with him and talked to
him in soft tones until he snapped out of
it. I realised that this method helped
alot.

Well it is 11pm -my time and nathan just
stoppped freaking out. It was really
hard to handle. I had to go to the mall
and blow a bunch of money after supper.
He has been cranky all darn night.. The
crying....When is it going to stop. I am
so glad he wasn't like this as a
infant...
I don't know how mothers cope.........What
can I do to get through this? Is it just
a stage?....Howlong will it last?
