Help! Need to Flush Metronidazole Out of System Posted: 10-02-06 21:49pm
My wife has been taking metronidazole
(generic flagyl) for 5 days. She has two
days left.
The first two days she was really sick
with nausea, cramps, and headaches. The
third day she felt better. And by felt
better, I mean physically - since the
first day she wasn't in the bed of moods,
and I contributed that to her physical
side effects. It is now the 5th day and
I realize that each day she has gotten
more depressed.
She went from a cheerful woman to someone
with zero self-esteem and can't bear to
show any affection whatsoever. I have a
sheet from the pharmacy that lists all of
the side effects, and it doesn't include
depression. It was tonight I realized
that her sudden mood change might be
related to the drug, so I looked it up,
and apparently a lot of other people have
experienced this as well. Some people
having even gone psychotic.
So - i'm throwing the rest of these pills
away. If the Dr. Wants to give her
something else that is fine, but what i'm
reading about these are not good. And it
seems that the side effects last awhile.
Some people develop a metallic taste in
their mouth as well as a metallic scent on
their skin, and takes months to go away.
This leads me to believe this stuff stays
in your system for awhile. So I want to
know what she can take/eat to help flush
it out of her system. I know that
alcohol is out of the picture for awhile.
Suggestions?

I too took flagyl for 6 days of a 10 day
prescription. I developed an allergy to
the medication and had welts all over my
body for 4 days. My taste was gone during
the whole time I took it, and although on
days it is better today I noticed a
serious metallic taste in my mouth.
Mostly can taste it when I drink any
water. I have never been allergic to
anything in my life, but I can tell you I
will never take any form of flagyl again.
Even if I hadn't had the allergic
reaction.
I am also a tad bit relieved that someone
else has had these same symptoms. The
doctor said he would prescribe prednezone
if I wanted, I decided to try to flush out
my system the natural way. I'm done
taking pills.
Let me know if you find a way to get it
out of your system asap, it has been about
a month for me now.
