My wife and I had sex yesterday and she
uses the ortho evra patch. She has only
been on the patch for 4 days though and
did not start wearing it at the time they
tell you to. She put the patch on
sometime after her last period and had it
on only 4 days before we had sex. Are we
still safe from pregnancy?

No, all bc is not effective until 7 days
of use. And she is suppose to put the
patch on the sunday after starting her
period or the first day her period starts.
If she put the patch on the first suday
after the start of her period, you must
wait 7 days before having unprotected sex!

Most birth control takes 7 days to become
effective unless you begin using it on the
first day of your period (first day of
bleeding).
As always check the leaflet that comes
with your b/c to be double sure.
But i'd say, going by your post, that
you/she is at risk of pregnancy.

She needed to have the patch on for 7 full
days....
Plan b morning after pill would be a good
idea, and is reccomended in these cases.
