You are still quite young I take it, since
you only just got your period a year ago.
Your period will not be 'regular' for
awhile. I'm not sure how people think
when you get your period it will be every
28 days every month and last for 5-7 days,
etc, etc. Some women have cycles that
last 25 days and they only bleed for a
day. Others have cycles that go for 34
days and they bleed for a week (i'm like
this).
As we age, our cycles change. They won't
always be the same. They won't start out
in a perfect pattern and they won't end in
a perfect pattern.
If you are at all worried (as I can tell
you are), seeing your doctor is the best
thing for you. However, there isn't
anything much they can/will do about
irregular cycles at this point.

I'm just thinking maybe this is serious
this is not very normal
i am 17 now and I know i've been told they
won't be regular for awhile but i've never
known someone who doesn't have red blood
when they have their period
now its only mild spotting - discharge -
brown dried blood
honestly does this effect birthing?
Would this have anything to do with a
disease like cancer?

How do you know that this is not normal?
Brown means old , it turns
brown when oxygen reaches the .
I think you are jumping the gun with your
concerns.
You need to go to your doctor or find one
who your comfortable with (like a female
doctor), they can do tests to see whats
going on like ultrasounds, tests.
If you have a close friend or relative
take them along with you to the
appointment.
Don't worry anymore than you have to, go
and get yourself checked and let us know
how you went on ok?

When I first got my period at 11 I had a
predictable, 7 day, cycle. It wasn't the
perfect 28 days but I knew about when it
was coming.
At age 15 I started missing my period.
At first it was every now and then, then
it became more often. At times there
would even be 3 months between each
period. They also became lighter only
lasting 3 days. When I looked it up
online a condition called oligomenorrhea
seemed to match it.
I was 19 by the I first went to an ob/gyn.
They just pushed be aside and put me on
birth control to make me have a 28 day
cycle. I was on it for a year, the month
I got off it my period was at 35 days
instead of the 28 it was at for the entire
year before. I don't think it worked in
the long term for me but I am unsure how
long you need to be on it for it to
correct something like that.
A month later I went on the depo shot so I
no longer get my period.
I am 21 now and I know no idea way my
period suddenly became irregular. People
always told me that i'm young and it
usually takes till your 16 to start a
regular cycle, I seemed to go the opposite
direction. The only reason I can think
of it that I lost my mother when I was 11.
I know when females live together they
all have their period at the same time due
to the chemicals we give off. Well I
only lived with my father so I do not
think my body had another female to put in
on the right cycle. Just a thought.

I remember when I had my first period I
was ready for the every month thing. But
after having that first anitial period I
didn't have one again for about 6 months.
Then for that first year they were very
sporadic.
In the first year it is normal to have
abnormal monthly periods
