Q: Tubal Pregnancy?

Hello,
I think I might be pregnant, my bf and I had sex on the 19th of september and my last period was 9/8-9/11. I have been having the following signs: sore boobs, acute sense of smell, nausea, increase urination. My period is due on thursday, which I am waiting for. My question is I am having mild cramps on my left side only. I am wondering if this could be a tubal pregnancy, or is a common to have it on one side more? I plan to make an appointment, but I would like to know what you guys think.
Thanks
kat

I think you might want to test first to see if your pregnant. Good luck

Hi kat,

when you say tubal pregnancy, do you mean ectopic pregnancy?
Usually with an eptopic pregnancy you will have severe abdominal pain, cramping, vaginal spotting, fever and general feeling of being unwell.

The symptoms you have explained sound more like pre-menstral, if your period hasn't arrived by thursday do a hpt.

Goodluck and let us know of the outcome.

I don't thinl I ever heard of people having nausea when they are expecting their period ...But I guess everyone is different. If these are things that are not common for you then you need to take a test. They sound like good signs, but to be on the safe side, take a test.

Sorry, it's been so long life has been busy. I have taken four tests all negative. It has been six days since my expected period. I have been spotting a little and having brownish discharge(like dried blood?) would a ectopic show up on a pregnancy test? I am worried but it also may just be stressed. I have an appointment on the 19th already for just a physical, I figured I just ask about it then. Should I call can tell them I might have an ectopic pregnancy or just wait? The cramp like feeling is gone, unless I sit a certain way it doesn't hurt just odd feeling. The other smytoms are gone. I am so confused? I have no fever, sharp pains, or anything to those effects. What do you guys think I should do?
Thanks
kat

Hi kat,

an ectopic pregnancy wouldn't show up on a hpt, you would need to have a ultrasound for it to show up. By now you would be in severe pain if it was...

You may have an infection, have you been checked for std's?

Let us know.

Actually ectopics do often show up as a positive hpt - although typically the the hcg levels are lower.

And secondly you wouldn't neccessarily be in severe pain - I wasn't and I had a positive hpt.
The pain is caused when a fallopian tube ruptures, there may or may not be mild discomfort prior to that. However not all ectopics are in the fallopian tube (mine wasn't) and therefore do not neccessarily have that symptom.

[please make sure your information is correct before posting it as a statement of fact]

to the original poster why are you so concerned that the possible pregnancy may be ectopic?

The quickest way to find out is to see your doctor/gyn/planned parenthood and get a test done to find out if you are pregnant and if not why you don't have your period.
