Significance of My Baby's Name
Posted: 01-26-04 11:34am

Six months ago I lost my cousin(and best friend) to a horrific car accident...It's been extremely hard for both myself and the rest of my family to cope with this tremendous loss. I have tried to think of a way to keep her remembered and alive forever. A little over a month ago I found out I was pregnant and have decided to keep her remembered through my child. This works only if I have a little girl though...But i've got a 50/50 chance right now...I wanted to see if anybody could help me think of a strong name that incorporates hers somehow....Her name was jenna ann....If anyone has any suggestions i'd love to hear from you.
Jennacy annette and juliannah genevieve(maybe jenaveeve, something like that) are all I have right now.
I'm hoping somebody's got a creative mind that reads this! Laughing
thanks!

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I too have just lost one of my best friend (cousins). I do think this is a very noble and beautiful gesture, you wanting to name your child after someone you so deeply cared for in her honor. My heart goes out to you and your family! God bless you and bless this child you are carrying.

Here are a couple of names to think about: jenna anessa,
jenna vanessa, vanessa jeneen,

Lol more power to ya! And red, it's funny that you said that, because I was just telling tom(the daddy) that I liked the name jeremy...And didnt even realize it in a way relates to the name jenna....Thanks for all of the advice girls!

At first I wasn't sure about jennacy just because i've never heard of it before but I really like it. It's unusual and pretty. Not to intrude on your topic but i'm hoping this month I find out i'm pregnant so i'm just thinking about names and I (if pregnant) am in the same boat as you. I lost my mom when I was nine. Her name is laurie and all the women on my mom's side of the family have the middle name leigh. I want to name a girl emma but leigh wouldn't work... Laurie is old fashioned. You seem like a good name mixer upper so any thoughts? Hahaha Smile

Cara,
ok i'm a bit confused as to which names you're trying to incorporate...You said you like emma(me too!), and your mom's name was laurie...So you want a name that has your mom's in it somehow? Are you opposed to the middle name leigh? Hm i've got my "name mixer upper" vibes going lol so i'll post them once I get some good ones!

Hey I am new here and I don't know if you have already had your baby but I thought of a name if you have a boy. What about jan for your cousin jenna ann? I went to school with a guy named jan and he was hot :d it is unique too, he is the only person I ever knew with the name. I am sorry for your loss and I think it is wonderful that you want to carry on the memmory of your loved one through your child. The people that we love can live on this way in the child that you will love more than anything. Congratulations and good luck!

Hey! No I haven't had my baby yet...I'm 19 weeks and 3 days today and just found out yesterday that i'm having a little girl! I'm so ecstatic, there's so many names to choose from, and so many different variations of jenna ann that it's a bit overwhelming....But the two names that stick out on their own are gianna and juliannah....Both have ann in them, so that's something to work with....Me and my b/f are still deliberating on what our little princess's name will be...If u have any suggestions feel free to post them! Very good idea! You could use jennafer vann or something like that if you want an unusual name. I think that is very sincere of you and I know your cousin would be very happy to hear she will have her name live on with you and your family. Good luck and god bless you in your baby times! Wink

I Hope This Isn't Too Late!

Ok I am going to go way out on a limb here, but if you were close, and it really struck your family hard, I believe that the gift of a girl is key here. Jenna is not all that common, and the more you switch it around the less it will remind you of her later on like you plan. Call her jenna. Give her a unique middle name that isnt a compilation, but is entirely her own. You will always have jenna, in memory and in name, your daughter will never be confused as to where her name came from from very early on and she will also be appreciative for some uniquness to her name by giving her her own middle name! Get creative, but not too creative. In the end, jenna is a beautiful name for more reasons than one as you, I am sure understand. (my name is kitryn (sounds like kittrin, people call me kit) and my children are conor (boy), seanan (sounds like shawnin, we call him seany) and clareigh (sounds like fairy, her brothers call her clare) so, I like unique names also, but I appreciate already perfect names.

A last name would do wonders to help ... I am not overly religeous, but some of these might be appropriate

jenna elizabeth (god is bountiful)
jenna elora (god is light)
jenna gabriella (god gives strength)
jenna alayne or allene (beautiful dear child)
jenna rene (renee) (reborn) kinda creepy tho
jenna evelene (life)
jenna emilee
jenna makenzie
jenna mae
jenna rose
jenna beth
jenna meredith
jenna annalie
jenna angeline (angel)
jenna claire (bright) (i am biased here)

i am just throwing them out there. But if you are still wanting a combo name

anna jeneanne

anna jennalie

angeline jennette

i dunno, thats hard!! I love jennacy annette. Its good.

Good luck!!!

Caracook, what about emma laurileigh, (spelled a bit different than laureleigh to incorporate your moms name more) thats very old fashioned and seems to incorporate all you wanted to. I dunno... Good luck!!
