Honestly you can't self diagnose and treat
endometriosis.
The commonest way to treat it is to have
the tissue removed (d&c).
You can't just take an "extra estrogen
pill" without knowing the true cause.

Oh...I didn't realize you were talking
about endometriosis. My doctor says it's
hormone related though, so if that's the
case would an extra estrogen pill help?

Only your doctor can answer that.
No pill will help unless it is the right
pill for the right cause.
You could do more bad than good by just
taking extra estrogen - it could unbalance
your hormones.
Why do you want to take estrogen? I
thought you didn't want a diagnosis?
I am not a doctor and these forums do not
replace medical care. I won't be pushed
into saying yes just because that is what
you want to hear.
I don't know that it is just excess endo
tissue in the cervix - it could be
something much more serious.

My doctor has already told me it is due to
the hormones in my birth control
pills....The dosage was too low. What I
am asking is how do birth control pills
cause this, and if a bcp with more
estrogen will help. If you're having
breakthrough bleeding don't you need a
pill with more estrogen? I'm not asking
you to diagnose me. I'm asking why birth
control pills cause this in some people.

I got a reply to my question...It's at the
top of this forum. Apparently that Dr.
Doesn't think it is pill related.
Great...Now i'm even more worried than
before.

i'm going to say this really slowly and
very plainly.
The doctor up above has not seen you. He
does not know your medical history. He
has never looked at your cervix nor has he
done a pap smear on you - he has never
read your chart, he has never seen one of
your test results.
And you are going to believe some stranger
on the internet over your own doctor who
has done tests, given you pap smears,
etc?
I believe you need to re-think your own
diagnosis of the issue and add that into
the what the actual tests have said about
your issue. Which is, breakthru
bleeding can be a common side effect of
birth control.
if there is no organic lesion on the
genital organs, then you might consider a
hormonal reason for bleeding.
and re-read that. The doctor said that
above. What you failed to report to that
doctor in your question was that you have
had normal pap smears and you have tested
negative for stds. So lesions have been
ruled out for you.
Sheesh. go back to the doctor!
***edited to add*** sorry, you did mention
you had 2 clear paps.
But if you have had some success on
certain types of bcp and not on other
types, maybe bcp are not right for you? I
cannot take hormones. And I know there
are others who can't take them for
whatever reason. You might need to look
into alternative birth control methods.
