Lupus isn't like a cold or anything like that. It does however, tend to run in families. Most auto-immune disorders tend to have some genetic/hereditary link. Science hasn't provided the answer as to how, but it does seem to. You might check the www.Lupus.Org for more information. Good luck with your mom. She'll need your help and understanding
