Dyslexia And Problem With Public Speak Associated? Posted: 10-10-06 14:54pm
I find it incredibly difficult to speak
when under pressure and when being watched
I have no problems talking in groups or to
anyone by themselves but when an element
or pressure is put on me I get all the
common symptoms of public speaking, going
red in face, dry mouth, stuttering,
anxiety, shaking ect.
Just wanted to know if this problem is
common amoungst dyslexic people or if it
is another isue.

Absolutely, individuals that do have
dyslexia often have a problem with public
speaking. A few other symptoms of
dyslexia is word finding difficulties and
sentence organization.
This becomes very apparent with
individuals who have to public speak. A
good organization to help, however, is
toast masters. It is very scary but if
you find a good group and you trust them
and tell them this information, they can
help.

ooooooh yes, this is deffinately
associated with Dyslexia. i find that any
sort of pressure makes me go blank and
become confused and with a Dyslexic,
confusion leads to more confusion so i
often get lost in whats going on arround
me and then start to get overwhelmed. ive
solved this problem by practice. if you
own what your saying, you're less likely
to become nervous and overwhelmed. also,
destressing before you have to speak (ie:
breathing deeply, taking a walk or just
destracting yourself) and also try to
socialize with at least some of the people
your going to be talking to helps also.
