If you start feeling unwell, with a fever,
then it could be mastitis which is a nasty
infection that will require medical
attention. It could be a blocked milk
duct or perhaps your baby isn't completely
emptying the breast for some reason and
you're getting a bit of engorgement.
Keep an eye on it.

I know it hurts but you need to try to
have landon empty your breast. I got
mastitis and the doctor told me that I
need to keep nursing her eventhough it
hurts...It was awful. Try to feed him
off that side and make sure that he
empty's the breast.

Yup exactly what .Gen said.
Mastitis usually occurs in breastfeeding
women when the baby doesn't fully empty
the breast, this leads to the ducts
blocking and then mastitis.
The quickest cure is to either get baby to
feed that side and fully empty that breast
or to pump.
As an example when breast feeding get baby
to fully feed from one side (say left)
then move to the other side (right) until
baby is full, then on the next feed start
from that side again (right) until the
breast is emtpied then move back to the
other (left). This ensures each breat is
emptied regularly.
Some women find putting a safety pin on
their bra strap of the last boob fed from
(and so first next feed) helps them to
remember which side to start on.

This is going to sounds weird, but I swear
I saw it on tv and people actually do
it...I'm not sure if it would help in your
situation or not, but on this baby story
type show (i can't remember the name) this
woman was breast feeding and her nipples
got reaallly sore, and she put crushed up
cabbage in her bra and on her nipples. It
sounds super weird, I know, but apparently
it works.

If it is mastitis, you should call your
doctor and tell him/her you suspect that
you have mastitis. I got mastitis with my
son and it was terrible! My fever was
over 104, and the pain was unbearable. If
left untreated it can get bad.
Whatever you do, don't quit nursing! It
won't harm the baby, since it is only a
tissue infection. But it will get worse
if you don't nurse. I know, it is a pain
though, huh?
A call to the doctor never hurts.
Good luck!
Oh, and drink tons of water.

Also: cabbage leaves are for engorgement.
If you have sore nipples use lasinoh.
