New Here, Really Need Help. Posted: 01-27-04 11:23am
I was wondering if you may be able to help
me. I wake up every moring with a tight
chest, and it feels as though I can not
get enough oxygen. I was told that I had
anxiety about 3 years ago, and was put on
ativan to get through a stressful
situation. I do not take anything now,
and had gone through many Dr.'s with many
"symptoms" all tests had always come back
normal. I had been fine for about the
last 3 years, until now. I have 2 small
children and fine myself contantly
worrying what would happen to them if I
de. Crazy, right? I have chest pains,
and wake up everymorning (and sometimes a
night) unable to get enough air. I have
always disputed anxiety, because I am like
this all day long until I go to bed night,
without a break. I am even walking around
the house with the cordless phone just
incase I pass out, to call 911, so that my
children arent alone. I do this everyday,
until my husband gets home from work. I
have had an ekg, chest x-ray and blood
work, and all came back normal, but I am
convinced that they (all 3 dr's) are
missing something. One said anxiety, one
an allergy, and the other a chest virus.
I was given 2 different puffers, that do
not help at all. I am wondering if this
is anxiety aferall, because of the normal
tests, but I have read that with anxiety,
you have episodes, and with me it is
constant from morning until night. I also
wonder because it seems that all of this
had started when I was told that I had
slightly low iron, and should take a
suppliment. I am in absolute dispair. I
would so appreciate some insight. Can
anyone relate to any of this, or am I way
out in left field. I feel as though I am
losing my mind. Can this be a constant
anxiey, or could the Dr.'s be missing
something? It has been 13 long, contant
days of this.

Hey my name is kim. I have been through
what your experiencing. But I really do
think it is anxiety. By any chance do you
ahve anyone in your family have anxiety or
chemical imbalance? Sometimes if its in
the gene pool you can experience it. Also
since you have small children you will
experience anxiety sometimes. Actually if
you are a stay at home mom and neverget
out much and constantly at home you can be
experiencing anxiety definitley.... Email
me sometime kkhe
lms@carolina.Rr.Com had 5 sons and
imade it . I have alot of anxiety and
bipolar going on in my family I got it
from my mom. I have siblings who also
have this problem. And a 21 year old son
who has been suicidal....... Good luck
to you! Kim

Amicrazy, you are not crazy. It sounds
like a panic attack to me.
Sub-consciously you are worried and it
makes you feel phsically ill. It might
not hurt to see a therapist and get to
the root why you feel this way.

You are sooo going through panic, believe
me, mine lasted for like 3 hours this
morning, I drank some herbal tea (seems to
help for a bit), and it went away, and
came back about 2 hrs later, but not as
bad. The panic is only really bad when
im at home, if im out and about , it isn't
so bad, because my mind is off of it for
the most part but believe me, I know what
you are going through I have 4
children, and I have been having extreme
panic attacks for the last 4 years, and I
just went to a doctor for them, they put
me on prozac, I sure cant wait until it
starts working. I have only been on it
for 4 days, and it takes up to a month
before you feel the effects. But good
luck to you, I know how it is with the
kids, I feel like im such a bad mom, im
constantly worring and not paying much
attention to them because I am more
concerened that something is going to
happen to me and im not going to be there
for them. But I make up for it when im
not having an attack, or going through
anxiety.

I know what your
going through ive been suffering from
anxiety my whole life but I didnt find out
to about 12 or 13 years ago. Anxiety is
very complex and it affects everybody
different with me I get lightheaded,
pounding heartbeat, panic attacks which I
even get in my sleep. There are to many
systems to list but chest pain is not one
of them. There are things that might
help like start taking b-12 tablets plus
if you drank caffine stop. Make sure you
eat right and if you need to have your
doctor put you on some xanic those things
work the best, but only take them if you
have to because there addicting. If I
were you I would start reading up on
anxiety so you can better understand it
and to deal with it, I did and it help me
but remember its not going to go away
completey. I guess it depends like I said
everybody is different. Kevin1965

Amicrazy,
no but what you are experiancing sounds
somewhat like I had after I had gotten hit
by a semi that ran a stop sign,i was put
on muscle relaxers and it would help a
little I had all sorts of tests done .
It sometimes felt like I was having a
heart attack I had difficulty getting
air also. And the more I paniced the worse
it felt.Than a friend suggested I go see a
chiropractor~~and man did that help I
haven't had those pains
hardly since and when I get them I go in
and than iam fine.
So have you thought of that?

Hello Amicrazy, Posted: 02-09-04 21:48pm
My name is precius and I went through a
lot of anxiety attacks too. I too
thought I was going crazy, it's an ugly
feeling isn't it. I always called 911
because I thought I was having a heart
attack and maybe I was going to die.
But time, after time, they told me it was
just anxiety and that I should stop
worrying so much because that's just
making it worse for me to relax. I just
went in for nothing again and again and
made another bill for me to worry about.
Maybe you worry too much like I do. I
was really scared when I first went
through these symptoms. Because I
didn't understand why I was feeling this
way all the time. I had trouble going
to sleep because I would be worrying all
the time about what was happening to me.
I didn't even want to go anywhere because
it would just strike anytime. I didn't
want anyone to know I was going through
this. Just my husband knew and even he
couldn't understand it. He would tell me
to get away from he because I might give
him my desease. I felt so alone and
worser because of him. I felt that I
could not turn off my mind at night when I
tried to go to sleep. I finally would go
to sleep at 3 or 4 in the morning then
wake up again at 7am. Only 3 hours of
sleep that's all. I wasn't able to get
enough sleep because I woke up scared and
it was hard to breathe. I went to see
a mental health Dr. And he gave me
prozac for the anxiety attacks and xanax
if I could'nt relax by myself. It took
about 2 weeks and finally I wasn't getting
that many attacks but I had to learn how
to relax and meditate. I only took the
prozac and not the xanax because I didn't
want to get addicted to it. Go for
walks it helps to relax. I know it can
be hard to relax especially when your
going through an episode but you are not
going to die. It will pass and try not
to worry so much about it. You are not
alone a lot of people have this. It's
life don't take it too seriously, you'll
learn to live with it like I had to. At
least I am not getting anymore attacks and
i"m getting better sleep at night. I
even tried getting my mind off the thought
of this anxiety by coloring with my kids
so I would'nt think about it so much. I
am still taking prozac and it seems to
help me be myself again. I think you
will need some kind of medication for it
right now until you can sort whats causing
this anxiety. I think I finally found
out what my problem was. It was my
loveless heartless husband. I guess I
have to be on prozac for the rest of my
life as long as I am with him. I wish I
can leave him but that would bring on more
stress and anxiety being on my own. So
i'm going to just try to hang in there as
long as I can. Maybe one day I will
leave him for someone more loving and
caring. hope
you feel better soon. Try breathing in a
paper bag when it's hard to breathe or put
your head between your knees while your
sitting down and take a deep breathe slow
breath to calm down or you might
hyperventilate. That's when you breathe
too fast and you get numb finger tips or a
twisted tongue and could barely talk
becausing your panicking too much and
breathing too fast. Slow down your
breathing. Goog luck with this you'll
get thought it. Hope you feel better
soon.
bye!Bye!

I Totally Understand You Posted: 05-18-04 06:49am
I know what you are going through. I
have been going through this over 2 months
now. It is terrible. I don't have
spurts or a 1 or 2 hour spurt of this.
It is constant. It is keeping me from
doing things that I love. I really
understand and I am so sorry that someone
else feels this way. I went to the
doctor and the chiropractor. The doctor
says that it is anxiety. The
chiropractor adjusted my back 3 times ,
and I felt better for a couple of days,
but now I feel the same. I have been
taking paxil for a month and it hasn't
helped. Im sorry I can't help , but I do
know what you are going through. Ambra

please,please get information about
getting off of paxil quick before you take
it for too long..... The withdrawls are
far worse than what they put you on it
for!!!!!! Paxil is a terrible drug! Get
on the internet and do some research on
discontinuing paxil, make sure you listen
to the users and not the makers!!! You
have only been on for a month please ask
to try something different
