So I posted yesterday about my appointment and how I had protein in my urine and high blood pressure. Well, I just googled those things and it seems they are signs of preeclampsia. I'm wondering why my doctor didn't tell me that and now i'm getting nervous. She obviously thinks that's what it is as she sent me for bloodwork right away and scheduled me for an ultrasound on monday and put me on bedrest. Should I be worried? I'm thinking if it were a big deal she would have told me and not made me wait 5 days for my next appointment. I'm feeling emotional today and i'm wishing I hadn't looked it up because now i'm nervous and scared. Sad

Oh, .B.... Thats scary..

I had .H.E.L.L.P .Syndrome, which is a bad version of preeclampsia. And im not gunna lie to you, it *can* be serious.. If they actually diagnose u with it, they'll deliver the baby. Most likely by c-section, since labor may take too long, and thats bad for the baby. (preeclampsia depletes the oxygen to the baby...)

keep me updated... And if u wanna talk about it, you know u can call me.

Awww, bridget i'm sorry to hear that. That sounds very scary, but hopefully they caught it early enough that it won't be a problem! Good luck and keep us updated. Take it easy, and let people wait on you hand and foot! Laughing

When I was pregnant with my son, all my teachers in school asked if I had preeclampsia (then called toxemia). My teachers diagnosed me with it, they said I needed to talk to my doctor about it. My doctor said I didn't have anything to worry about and poo poo'd my questions.

When I went into the hospital, the nurse started hooking me up to iv's and I asked what they were for. "the mag sulfate is for your toxemia, dear." you could have knocked me over with a feather! My doctor .T.O.L.D me I didn't have it - yet I did. I was on mag for 3 days after delivery. Yuk.

Obviously your doctor is taken precautions. You are on bed rest. You are getting an u/s. You've had blood work. It all sounds like you are being cared for and monitored closely.

The symptoms you listed can be signs of preeclampsia, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's definitely the cause. Protein can be found in the urine for reasons as harmless as bladder infections (from what I was told, once women hit their mid-teen years, they may have a significant yet harmless amount of protein in the urine). However, it's best that you do get tested for this condition - I don't want to frighten you more than you already have been, but preeclampsia can be very very serious if it's left untreated, for both you and your unborn child. Even if you have something totally benign going on, it's best to be safe than sorry.

I am soooo sorry to hear about the possible bad news! I hope that it is not preeclampsia! Like hopefulmjz said, stay down and let everyone wait on you! I will keep positive good thoughts for you and keep you in my thoughts and prayers! How far along are you, I don't remember? Sometimes it can take blood tests a few days to come back and I know what this is like because I had to wait a few days for my ms testing eventhough the dr felt that I did have it but I so wanted to prove him wrong along with some other things of having to wait to find out. Remember that we are here for you whenever you need us! Can you still take your blood pressure med with being pregnant, hopefully it is just a uti which is not fun but it at least can be treated. Wish I could be there to help!
I do wish the best for you and your baby-to-be!

Thanks everyone. I'm almost 38 weeks so I figure if something is wrong they'll want to get him out, which is fine with me. I go back to the doctor on monday so hopefully i'll find out what's going on and maybe they'll schedule an induction or c-section. For now i'm just staying on the couch and feeling pretty bad because my husband is doing everything I usually do. He works all week, he shouldn't have to spend his weekend doing laundry and other household chores. Oh well, at least i'm getting chinese food out of it since I can't cook dinner!

that's the spirit!! I'm sure your hubby won't mind doing a bit of laundry for a couple weeks. Then he's likely to appreciate it just that much more when you do it!
