Coming off the Pill: what does bright red blood indicate? Posted: 10-14-06 11:15am
I got married this past month (Sept),
previously I was on BC for 7 years. I have
been off the BC since mid July. My monthly
cycles have not yet gotten back on a
normal schedule and this past month (Sept)
I barely had a period at all. I figured
this was due to all the stress of planning
the wedding and making sure everyhing
would go smooth. Our second night of our
honeymoon we had sex and there was bright
red blood everywhere, but since then I
have not bleed at all. I have taken a PG
Test and it comes back neg. Any
suggestions of what this could have
been?

One of the normally expected side effects
of hormonal contraception is a temporary
lack of ovulation and abnormal periods
after coming off the pills. You may also
experience irregular periods without
ovulation. You will need several months to
recover your fertility completely. The
maximum waiting period for establishing
full fertility is 2 years.
