Okay, well i'm 33 weeks pregnant and I
have had an uneventful pregnancy so far.
The baby and I are always given a good
report at the doctor's visits but 2 days
ago I started having this terrible
shooting pain in my groin (i can't exactly
pinpoint it to one area. It feels like
someone's stabbing me with a knife in the
vulva). Well it only happens sometimes
and when it does, I leak urine. I do my
kegels regularly. Another thing, I have
been getting period like cramps that come
and go. They are mild but i'm not sure
what to think.
also, I have been having this terrible
cold for a few days now and today I called
my doctor's answering service and they
gave him my message and my cell number.
He called me back and gave me a
prescription for an antibiotic (b/c the
phlegm is greenish yellow and he said it's
an infection.) he told me to get
robitussin cough syrup and to take the
antibiotic... But i'm nervous b/c I
don't want anything bad to happen to my
baby girl and someone told me that having
an infection can cause preterm labor...
is my
baby going to be ok? Are the antibiotics
and cough syrup going to hurt her? And
what could be the reason for the shooting
pain and the period like cramping?

Your body is growing and expanding, that
will cause pains. If you ask your doctor,
he might tell you it's very common to feel
the shooting pains and even the period
like cramps.
The doctor obviously is aware you are
pregnant and would never prescribe
something that wouldn't be safe for the
baby. Antibiotics will not harm the baby.
Nor will cough syrup.
