Yesterday around 6 p.M. I started getting a pain in my right side. It became severe within seconds. I wasn't contracting, so I wasn't sure what it was. My mom got excited b/c she thought that was "it", but I knew better.
Well I called the ob nurse at the hospital and she said to go in right away. We were on the road, so I stopped at home to get my bags. At this point my husband was on his way home from work just in case.
Well I got there and the pain had went away almost completely. The ob Dr. Came in and checked me. I was still 1 cm and not having contractions, so labor was ruled out.
I had a urine test done and they found blood in my urine. The ob Dr. Thought it was a kidney stone. They hooked me up to an iv of fluid and the er Dr. Came in. He moved my legs around and poked my side. The pain came back at this point and it was going to my leg, my butt, and my back all on the right side. He thought it was my appendix. The nurse came in and said that if it was that they'd need to remove it and take the baby out. I didn't say anything, but inside I just wanted to cry. I didn't want to delivery my baby that way -- asleep without my husband.
Well I went for an ultrasound and they couldn't find my appendix, but saw some of my kidney. I had to lay on my left side for the ultrasound and the pain just went away like magic.
Well after looking at the results and the fact that the pain wasn't consistent, they came to the conclusion that I had a kidney stone. It wasn't big enough for me to feel it come out, but it was big enough to cause a lot of pain. My huge uterus probably just aggravated the situation. So, they kept me overnight to be sure the pain didn't come back. They gave me some pain medicine to help me sleep, but I couldn't sleep that much b/c of her heartbeat on the baby monitor and the uncomfortable bed, so I was very groggy. I was released this morning and I just slept for 6 hours.
I feel better now. My mom and husband wanted the kidney stone to wrap up in a pink blanket. Lol

I am sooo sorry to hear about your bad night but I am glad to know that you are feelin better now and got some sleep I know that kidney stones are not a picnic on top of being pregnant. Next time you are in the hospital, ask for an egg crate for your bed, they are foam that goes between the matress and your bottom sheet and if you have to pay for it and can bring it home you can cut them up and make pillows out of them, it helps if you ever have a bad neck or a bad back and it kind of helps while you are in the hospital and your dr might order you one as I know hospital beds are not comfy(their is no place like home, in your own bed).
If your dr orders it your ins. Should pay for it! When you are in pain their is not much that is comfortable, even my morphine hardly helps me that is why I use more promethazine.
That was cute about bringing your kidney stone home, I hope they put it in a bottle with some liquid in it. I know that I kept my tonsils for years(lol)
all the best!

So you passed it then? At least it wasn't your appendix. That would've been terrible. Glad you're feeling better!

Yeah, the Dr. Thinks I passed it. He said it hurts when it's going down and if it's small enough I wouldn't have felt it coming out. I must have passed it after the ultrasound, b/c the pain never came back.

Ultrasound is often used to help break large stones down, so maybe the u/s broke it up enough to stop hurting?
