I have had lower left rib cage and chest
pain since August last year. I have had a
gatroscopy, chest xray, full abdomen
ultrasound, full blood count test,
cholestorel test, diabetes test, thyroid
test, iron test and all came out normal.
The pain has dissappered before but has
been there most of the time. It seems to
have worsened a bit and radiates to my
lower back down to my bottom.
I had a kidney infection about 3 weeks ago
and had blood tests done but all seemed
fine there as well.
I have been smoking since my teens,
managed to give up 2 years ago, but then
stop and start all the time.
I don't experience shortness of breath or
have a cough? Could this be lung related?
A doctor diagnosed me in June with
costochondritis because my ribs are sore
to the touch. It also feels like there is
some sort of a glitch when i touch my left
side.
Given thenegative test-results from all
the examinations you’ve done till now,
it doesn’t seem likely that your
symptoms are related to a lung disorder.
The organ we call the lungs, in fact, can
not experience pain because a lung
doesn’t have sensory nerves to
communicate pain. Only the tissue that
covers the lungs (the pleura) can
communicate pain. If the pleura is
affected, the pain becomes worse when
inhaling air. Inflammation of the ribs’
cartilage (costochondritis) manifests with
pain and some swelling and could be a
possible diagnosis.
You can also request a blood examination
to confirm or exclude the parvovirus
infection because such an infection can
cause similar symptoms.
You can also request an X-ray image of the
vertebral column to exclude spondylotic
changes of the vertebrae. A kidney
infection is a serious disease and it may
also cause such pain!
