Normalization Symptoms Posted: 10-20-06 17:31pm
I'm wondering how others here felt when
they started the diet. I had all kinds of
ups and downs (the ups reached only
"normal", while the downs reached the
point where I felt like I would pass out)
before I started the diet. I generally
felt disgusting, very flu-like all the
time, and than i'd have occassional good
days, or parts of days, and frequent very
bad days crashes. My heart rate was all
over the place, constant severe headaches,
extreme thirst, ridiculous indigestion,
mood swings, and beer-goggles.
Since i've cut carbs and sugar for about
three weeks, and only a couple days on
stan's diet, i've seen my body kind of
level out. My heart rate has slowed down,
the headaches are transient and not as
severe, muscle pain is diminished, but my
energy and muscle endurance are still very
limited.
Also, I found that my sex drive used to be
pretty strong all the time, then when I
got sick it was up and down, now it's
gone. No desire, and no ability. I don't
know if the dudes here have experienced
this, but it sucks. Is it due to my
body's circulation adjusting?
I'm not getting discouraged or anything,
just wondering if anyone had similar
experiences when they started recovery.
I'm guessing some of these problems are
poor circulation and some are my body
recalibrating.
Thanks.

Also, forgot to mention, my joints are
much more sore and cracking much more
easily than they did. I fight
competitively and after a fight or a
training session, it takes forever to
heal. Again, poor circulation from 2
years of uneven blood sugar, or not enough
grease in the joints, or...?
Lastly, i've mentioned before that I had
my galllbladder out a year ago. Sometimes
the excess bile produced by the liver that
would normally be stored in the gb, is now
released directly into the gut, resulting
in diarrhea. So now, I have to take a
binding resin that neutralizes the bile,
and incidentally, forces the liver to
remove more cholesterol from the blood to
make more bile. So, in short, I have to
eat a little more fat and protein than the
average person because not as much of what
I do take in gets digested, being that i'm
working with less bile, and i've adjusted
my fat and protein intake on stan's diet
accordingly.

It's really hard to say for certain about
anything since you've just started the
diet. I strongly recommend a good
calcium tablet since it's very low in my
diet, you should be using one unless you
can drink milk with no problem. Low sex
drive is common unfortunately, for both
men and women but it can be more
disturbing for men because it tends to
last all day or a few days in a row. I'm
not sure what causes it exactly, it's one
of the symptoms I still get and it's
pretty annoying. I can say that it's
definitely still there, it just doesn't
feel as strong, but that may not be
related to the diet at all. I'm actually
researching this now to make sure my diet
doesn't have any imbalance of something in
it that can cause hormonal problems, but I
don't think it does. I say this because
I know when my sugar is dead on good I
feel perfectly fine.
