I had cramps in my feet and legs 8-9 years
ago that eventually spread through my body
within a year's time - my arms, back,
face, eyes would twitch all day long - and
my feet would cramp every night, even
before I went to bed - it was terrible.
My doctor prescribed quinine (sp?) which
seemed to really work. But he was
reluctant to continue that treatment. He
said I was possibly internalizing stress
and he would have to give me
anti-depressants if I didn't get better
soon. I was a single mom at the time,
very emotional, stressed about money, and
everything else a young lady in her 20's
with a child to provide for stresses over.
I made a decision to calm down and I got
better. It was almost immediate, as soon
as he told me that, I relaxed and got
better.
Now, i'm in my 30's, married, with another
child... Things are good but now I own my
own business (real estate) and it is very
stressful on a whole other level...
Always staying on top of my clients and my
employees and their clients... Dealing
with daily small town politics and
competition... We just built a home...
Husband is changing careers... I have
pressure to perform and to provide...
*sigh*
i wonder if there is something I can take
similar to the quinine (sp?) that would
proide relief. My life is not going to
change. This cramping is stressing me out
even more because I have to wait until it
stops before I can sleep. Sometimes I
have to sleep on my stomach with my toes
pressed upward into the mattress to hold
the cramps at bay long enough to fall
asleep. This has gotten very old, to say
the least.
There are other times when I am on the
phone and pacing because something big is
happening with a property or a relative...
Something either exciting or stressful...
I'll get cramps in my feet immediately
from that.
I wonder if this could be restless leg
syndrome? I'm not sure.
I just haven't taken the time to look into
it - I usually fail to take care of myself
because I am too busy looking after
everyone else... I eat right, don't
exercise regularly but I have to hike over
ranch properties quite often, I weight
135-140 lbs... No health problems...
