I was just wondering if anyone knows anything or has anything to say about nipple/clitoral stimulation during labor? I have heard of both but in a doctors eyes using either during labor seems controversial.. Any opinions/stories?

I haven't heard of either. I've heard of nipple stimulation maybe helping to bring on labor but not done during labor. And clitoral stimulation... Are you suggesting rubbing one out while you're in labor? I don't understand...

Yea a doula told me she has a woman from brasil who started to do just that as she was delivering her baby because she was in so much pain. She said the dr kept trying to stop her and she kept putting her hand back there everytime they moved it away. Also apparently clitoral stimulation is supposed to start up contractions if they slow or stop like I have herad nipple stimulation does. But I have also heard things about how the release of harmons is not good for the labor.. Can be to much.

The very last thing I wanted during labor was an orgasm. By the time you're pushing your baby, your vagina is stretching open and you're bleeding. I don't really think a woman would want to stick her hand down there and play with herself.

I mean, don't they have .I.V's to help bring around a stalled labor? Not to mention walking, etc...

I mean, if they do it in .Brazil then okay, but... I dunno, that's pretty weird to me. Shocked

I have to agree with laura, it's weird. Not only can I not imagine having an orgasm during labor, I can't imagine touching myself in front of all the people who come in and out of the room. I don't see how anyone could be aroused and orgasm under those circumstances.

Yea, but I can see how people would do it at the same time, whatever works I guess works. I don't know if in doing something like that.. You are actually supposed to bring yourself to orgasm? I have read things that the g spot is there for when the baby comes down the birth canal it is a natural way to suppress the pain, the babies head pressing against it. Like mother nature put it there just for that purpose. When I heard the story about the woman from brazil a thought crossed my mind that maybe that's what the clitoris is there for.. To serve some kind of pain relief during pregnancy since some researches believe that's why we have a g spot. Everything in the body has a purpose (or at one point did) like the shape of a mans penis.. The 'head' is there because it is designed to scrape away any seamen (that lives up to 7 days) that may be in a woman left over from another partner, and make the chances of his sperm fertilizing the eggs greater.

The clitoris is there to make sex pleasurable. If sex is pleasurable, we will want to do it, because it feels good. This leads directly to having babies.

If you want to try it during your labor, more power to you. But I think the nurses will be talking about that story for a whiiiiile.

I can't imagine anyone even remotely being tempted to do that during labor. All I could manage to do was curl into a ball to try to protect myself from the pain. I think that if anyone tried to do it for you then you'd probably bite their head off their shoulders or claw their eyeballs out. I didn't want anything or anyone touching me anywhere in any way during labor. But hey if you can stand it and it works then I say more power to you. Even if it is weird...In a disturbing way.... Wink

Lol...We'll see how much you wanna touch yourself when you have the feeling of your abdomen being ripped to pieces.

I had a drug free birth and *didn't* have to bust a nut to do so.

I promise, you will change you mind about this once you're 7cm dialated and trying your hardest to get your vision to clear!!!

Birth is nothing like the movies. You can't, unless you have an epidural, just start playin with yourself during a contractiong or after one.

You vagina is sooo sore during labor, it's not even funny.

If you do bust one...Let me know how it was!

hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Omg, you two are the funniest!! What a topic!! It's times like these that make me so glad that I live in america and all that rot. Freedom of speech can be amazingly entertaining!

Thanks for confirming that no one wants to be touched during labor, for a minute I was starting to believe it was just me. Laughing it's seriously not a good time to go treasure hunting. Like aya said, it ain't no d*mn party.

Hahahahahahahahaha!!

You guys are making my day. I was feeling sorry for myself cuz i'm sick...

Well it was bad enough with everyone else in there! I had my feet all up in stirrups spread-eagle, had a grown man who *wasn't* my husband sitting inbetween staring at my girly bits, and then two medical students .I'd never seen in my life hovering over his shoulder! And there was a huge spot-light thingy shining right down on it, like my bits were the main attraction!

I couldn't even *breathe* through my contractions. There's no way .I'd be like "hmm, maybe it's time to reintroduce myself to myself!" and in front of a live studio audience, at that! Yeah right!

Hahahha....I had *every* nurse on staff that night in my room. We were *packed* in there like pickles!! Hahahha(gotta love ellen!)

they were soo shocked that I was soo young and having my 1st child with no medical intervention. I was like, why doesn't someone call "a baby story" for me...Sh't!

And when she was born, they were like, whats her name? And one lady said .Kayoni and I overheard one say "kayoni?!?!?" in a very demeaning manner. So I said "you heard her right, it's .Kayoni....Is that ok with you?"

mind you, this is while i'm being stitched w/just a couple shots of novacane to numb my vagina....Talk about not in the mood for smartasses!!!!

Yeah im glad i'm going c-section lol.

I had my main doctor test my cervix yesterday.. Which was oddly ok.. I've never been comfortable around male doctors .E.V.E.R especially male gyno's... But .Dr .Locklear is so sweet.. He has this comforting southern accent.

I dont think rob was too up with it tho. He left the room lol.

Sarah's crazy! Wink

seriously though, labor is what you make of it. If you go in with an open mind, you'll do just fine.

My pain tolerance is *nonexistant*, and I was able to handle 85% of my labor drug-free. I got my epi at the last possible moment.

Just take it one contraction at a time and don't worry about the next one. Your body knows what to do, so just trust it. You'll be so focused on your baby that you won't worry about all the strangers looking at your bits. Trust me, if the janitor had known what to do, I would have had him down there too to help things out!

Labor will pass, and you'll have your precious one! They're worth every second!
