Can having been on antibiotics make your period be a little off track?

Not a Doctor But...

Honestly... I've been to the doctors and there was nothing that they could find wrong because of my age it is normal... But this is how it has been for years...

Before I was on bc I was skipping like crazy. While on it I had a normal cycle because it increases the hormones needed... But when I got off my period almost seized to exist but for every two to four months... And just because you are on bc doesn't mean you have to be sexually active... A lot of people misconstrue that... You can be on it because you might feel more secure or something like that.

Maybe you should try going on birth control. Yes there are risks but it might help. Also do go to your doctor or gyno... They could offer more suggestions or even check to see if it is a health problem, which I highly doubt.

Also if you excercise often or do strenuous sports... And stress a lot then that could be another factor. If anything don't worry about it... It happens to a lot of people Smile (girls)

If you are on b/c and are having sex you could very well be pregnant. Anytime you get a prescription you should read up on it, please do not take me wrong, I am not bashing you. Stress, anxiety, your body changing, their could be several reasons that you are late on your period but if you feel that you might be pregnant especially having un-protected sex or using medications such as antibiotics and are having sex without using a condom you should take a home pregnancy test. Are you ttc if so let us know if you are pregnant.
Good luck!

basically I forgot to mention pregnancy. It is common for someone to think that they aren't prego when they are, especially if it is their first child. But yes, like sandyallen said about the home pregnancy detection device, it might lift your spirits to let you know if you are... Or not...

Hello.. I know this post is a little old, but I just wanted to mention, (for anyone who did not know this before), if you are on b/c, the antibiotics can cancel out the effectiveness. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I know that when I was prescribed some amoxicillin, the doctor told me to use a back up method, because it can sometimes affect the success of the b/c. Maybe i'm wrong... But I am pretty sure.
So be careful if you are sexually active and using antibiotics. Prepare to use another method as well. Good luck..
